Human Resources Consultant
Full-time | Remote with client-site work as needed | Flexible schedule
You take pride in your work, care about the details and want to help businesses succeed through their people. You enjoy the freedom to own your work—and being part of a great team.
At SIEL Human Solutions, we provide strategic, customized, end-to-end HR solutions to organizations across Western Canada. We build trusted relationships with our clients, get to know their businesses and help them navigate the people challenges and opportunities that come with growth and change.
We're looking for an experienced Human Resources Consultant who shares that drive. Someone who takes initiative, follows through and brings practical, creative ideas to the table. Someone who is ambitious about their own growth and invested in helping clients succeed.
Working at SIEL
We're a hardworking, innovative team that cares about our clients, supports one another and makes room for fun along the way. We think outside the box, welcome fresh perspectives and continually look for better ways to work. We love learning, growing and exploring how technology and automation can simplify processes and help our clients succeed.
Reporting to the CEO, you'll have the autonomy to manage your assignments and the support of colleagues who are ready to collaborate. We offer a flexible schedule and remote working arrangement, balanced with client commitments, team collaboration and on-site work as needed. We value accountability, quality work and the flexibility to manage both professional and personal priorities.
Your work will offer variety, responsibility and the opportunity to see the difference you make—from helping a manager navigate a difficult conversation to building HR programs that support a client's long-term success.
What you'll do
- Build trusted client relationships by understanding their businesses, people and priorities.
- Lead and deliver client projects across HR policies and procedures, job descriptions, recruitment and selection, compensation, employee relations, performance management, and training and development.
- Coach and advise leaders to strengthen their people management skills and confidence.
- Support clients through complex employee matters, including accommodations, leaves of absence, absenteeism, workplace concerns, performance issues and terminations.
- Develop practical HR programs and recommendations tailored to each client's culture, goals and operational needs.
- Prepare accurate, thoughtful and polished documentation, paying close attention to detail before materials reach a client.
- Manage project timelines and competing priorities, keeping clients informed and following through on commitments.
- Identify opportunities to introduce technology, business process improvements and automation that reduce administrative work and strengthen clients' people management practices.
- Bring fresh ideas and creative solutions to client challenges, looking beyond established approaches to find what works best for their business.
- Collaborate with the SIEL team, share expertise and contribute to better ways of working.
- Stay current on HR practices, applicable employment legislation and emerging technologies.
What you bring
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least seven years of progressive HR experience, including independently managing complex HR matters.
- A professional HR designation, such as CPHR, CHRP or CHRL, is an asset.
- Consulting or client-facing experience is an asset.
- Experience across multiple industries; healthcare experience is particularly valuable.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices and applicable employment legislation.
- The ability to turn complex issues into clear, practical advice and actionable solutions.
- Excellent writing, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organization, sound judgment and careful attention to detail.
- Confidence working independently, managing multiple priorities and knowing when to draw on your team's expertise.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience with applicant tracking systems and HR information systems.
- An interest in using technology and automation to improve processes and the client experience.
- The ability to work remotely and attend client sites as required.
You'll thrive here if you
- Take ownership and pride in delivering work you're confident putting your name on.
- Are driven to help clients build stronger workplaces and achieve their business goals.
- Enjoy autonomy and actively contribute to a collaborative team.
- Notice the details while keeping the bigger business picture in mind.
- Think outside the box and enjoy turning new ideas into practical solutions.
- Are curious about technology and automation and how they can improve the way businesses work.
- Have a love of learning and growing—and enjoy sharing what you learn with colleagues and clients.
- Welcome feedback, take initiative and look for opportunities to stretch your skills.
- Bring professionalism, a sense of humour and a willingness to pitch in.
