About the Opportunity

Citus HR Solutions is partnering with an established organization to recruit a Director of Human Resources to support its businesses across Canada.

This role offers responsibility for the HR, payroll and benefits functions during a period of growth and acquisition activity. Reporting to the national finance leader, you will lead an established team and work closely with senior business leaders to strengthen HR practices and support newly acquired businesses.

We’re looking for an HR leader who combines sound business judgment with substantial payroll expertise. Experience supporting businesses in Quebec, particularly direct Quebec payroll experience, is essential. Bilingualism is not required, although French is an asset.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the HR, payroll and benefits team supporting multiple businesses across Canadian provinces.
  • Oversee full-cycle payroll, including processing, government remittances, reporting and year-end activities.
  • Ensure effective payroll and benefits administration across provinces, including Quebec.
  • Advise senior leaders on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning and organizational change.
  • Lead HR due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions, including the alignment of policies, benefits and payroll practices.
  • Oversee recruitment, succession planning, employee development and retention initiatives.
  • Manage compensation and benefits programs, including annual reviews and retirement plan administration.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable employment requirements and work with legal counsel on complex matters.
  • Improve HR processes, systems and service delivery as the organization grows.

What You Bring

  • Extensive HR generalist experience, with the job profile specifying 15+ years, including leadership responsibility.
  • Proven experience managing a payroll department, with strong knowledge of payroll operations, compliance and year-end reporting.
  • Experience supporting businesses across multiple Canadian provinces, including Quebec HR and payroll experience.
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions and the integration of employees and HR processes.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment legislation, compensation and benefits.
  • Experience leading and developing a team, with the ability to balance strategic priorities and daily operational needs.
  • Confidence advising senior executives, handling sensitive situations and influencing decisions.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, along with a CHRP or CHRL designation.
  • French proficiency is an asset, but is not required.

Experienced Senior HR Managers ready to take on a Director mandate are encouraged to apply, provided they bring the required breadth of HR and payroll leadership.

Why Consider This Role?

You’ll have national scope, direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape HR practices through business growth. The role combines a primarily remote working arrangement with meaningful ownership of an established HR, payroll and benefits function.
