About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to influence the future of one of Alcoa’s key Australian operations. Your impact will shape a future-ready workforce and redefine how people are engaged, developed and led to deliver sustainable performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Shape and lead the people strategy for Wagerup operations and the Gallium Project across workforce planning, succession, talent, employee relations, culture and engagement.
  • Be a trusted adviser to leaders, providing clear and courageous guidance on complex employee and industrial relations matters.
  • Build constructive relationships with employees, unions and stakeholders across site, regional and global teams.
  • Lead, coach and develop the on-site Human Resources and Learning and Development team.
  • Use workforce insights to anticipate risk, strengthen organisational capability and unlock productivity improvements.
  • Help build the workforce and organisational foundations that will support the Gallium Project’s transition into operations.
  • Translate and deploy regional engagement, capability, performance and people initiatives at site level, tailoring delivery to operational priorities and enabling sustained workforce and business performance.

What’s on offer

  • Attractive remuneration and variable bonus plan.
  • Flexible hybrid working options available.
  • Employee growth and development opportunities.
  • Salary packaging for a novated car lease, employee share plan and superannuation options.
  • Connect and be part of a community that celebrates diversity through our employee inclusion groups.

What you can bring to the role

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Extensive generalist Human Resources experience in a large workforce, ideally within heavy industry, manufacturing or resources.
  • Strong industrial and employee relations capability, including demonstrated success in building constructive relationships with unions.
  • A strong track record of shaping workforce strategy, succession, high-impact talent pipelines and enduring organisational capability.
  • A strategic, accountable and collaborative leadership style, with the judgement to make difficult decisions and challenge constructively.
  • The ability to build credibility and influence across operational, regional and global stakeholder groups.

Additional information

  • Interviews may progress prior to the closing date, although all applications will be considered.
  • You will only be contacted if you are shortlisted for an interview, this process can take up to four weeks from the closing date.
