HIRING: HVAC Mechanical Engineer (MEP Design) | 100% Remote Design the Future of Building Systems From Anywhere We are seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanical Engineer to join a growing MEP consulting firm supporting projects across healthcare, education, commercial, retail, and institutional markets. This is a 100% remote opportunity , offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a highly respected engineering team on a diverse portfolio of building projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in HVAC design within an MEP consulting environment and is comfortable taking projects from initial calculations and system selection through construction documents and coordination. Responsibilities Design HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, educational, retail, and institutional facilities. Perform heating and cooling load calculations and develop HVAC system designs based on project requirements. Design air distribution systems, ductwork, hydronic piping, ventilation systems, and associated mechanical infrastructure. Perform equipment selection and sizing for air handling units, rooftop units, boilers, chillers, pumps, VAV systems, heat pumps, and other HVAC equipment. Prepare mechanical construction documents, calculations, specifications, schedules, and technical reports. Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to develop and coordinate mechanical engineering drawings. Evaluate and select appropriate HVAC systems based on building type, energy efficiency, constructability, and client requirements. Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines. Ensure designs comply with applicable mechanical, energy, ventilation, and building codes , as well as industry standards. Participate in design reviews and provide technical solutions throughout all phases of a project. Support project management activities, including scheduling, multidisciplinary coordination, and client communication. Provide construction administration support, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and assisting with field-related design issues as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 5+ years of HVAC/mechanical design experience within an MEP consulting environment. Strong experience designing HVAC systems for commercial or institutional buildings. Experience performing heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing and selection, ductwork design, and hydronic piping design. Proficiency with AutoCAD ; Revit experience highly preferred. Knowledge of applicable mechanical and energy codes and ASHRAE standards . Strong understanding of HVAC system design principles, equipment, controls, and building infrastructure. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while working independently in a remote environment. Preferred Qualifications EIT or PE License. Experience designing HVAC systems for healthcare, educational, commercial, retail, or institutional facilities. Experience with energy-efficient HVAC systems, heat pumps, VRF/VRV systems, central plants, or other high-performance building systems. Familiarity with HVAC load calculation and energy modeling software. Experience with construction administration, including submittal reviews and RFIs. Project management and client-facing experience. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary MEP projects.
