The bookkeeper maintains accurate financial records and supports day-to-day bookkeeping operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, client billing, account reconciliations, and other assigned duties. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions, supports compliance activities such as audits and tax filings, and assists with monthly close processes.
Responsibilities- Process accounts payable transactions, including reviewing invoices, coding expenses, and ensuring timely payments, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Process accounts receivable transactions by preparing and issuing invoices, recording receipts, and monitoring outstanding balances.
- Prepare monthly client billing, ensure accuracy of charges, and track payments to support timely collections and proper revenue recognition.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other financial records regularly to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Process employee expense reimbursements, verify proper documentation, and ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing schedules, supporting reconciliations, and maintaining organized financial records.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring and adjusting entries, to ensure accurate and complete general ledger records.
- Provide supporting documentation and schedules for audits, tax filings, and other compliance requirements.
- Process or assist with monthly and quarterly sales tax filings across several states, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Assist with reporting and other finance-related tasks as needed to support the broader finance function.
- Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for financial documents to support easy retrieval and compliance.
- At least 2 years of bookkeeping or relevant accounting experience.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software for day-to-day bookkeeping tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools for tracking, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong follow-through and reliability in completing assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively with finance team members and respond to requests for information and support.
- Experience handling accounts payable and accounts receivable processes from end to end.
- Familiarity with client billing and payment tracking in a professional services or similar environment.
- Experience preparing and posting recurring and adjusting journal entries.
- Exposure to multi-state sales tax filings on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Comfort working with Microsoft Office applications in addition to Excel.
- Ability to support audit and tax preparation by organizing and providing required documentation.
This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with work performed in the office from Monday through Wednesday and from home on Thursday and Friday. The role operates in a professional office setting with a typical daytime schedule, offering a flexible start time between approximately 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., ending around 5:00 p.m. The bookkeeper collaborates closely with the finance team and reports directly to the Controller, working with standard office technology, accounting software, and Microsoft Office tools in a structured yet flexible environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
