Platform Monitoring Engineer (Good English) | Hybrid working

Working location: Elinext Building, 37A Phan Xich Long, Ward 3, Phu Nhuan District, HCMC

Role overview

We are looking for an experienced engineer to support the reliability and day-to-day operation of our platform. This is not a pure DevOps or architecture role. The position focuses on Linux-based platform monitoring, incident response, operational support, and routine maintenance across both data-center and AWS environments. The engineer will support internal technical teams rather than work directly with customers.

Working schedule

The role is based in Vietnam and must support US Eastern Time operations. The candidate must be able to work a regular late-day shift starting no earlier than 10:00 or 11:00 AM Vietnam time and ending around 7:00 to 8:00 PM Vietnam time, with the exact schedule agreed during hiring. This is intended to provide coverage until approximately 8:00 AM US Eastern Time, taking daylight-saving changes into account.

· Availability for an on-call rotation is required, including support for incidents and urgent platform issues outside normal working hours when scheduled.

· The candidate must reliably work within the agreed time frame and communicate early about any availability constraints.

Responsibilities

· Monitor the health, availability, performance, and capacity of Linux-based platforms in AWS and data-center environments.

· Use monitoring and logging tools to detect, investigate, and escalate incidents; help maintain incident records and contribute to post-incident follow-up.

· Perform routine operational tasks, including service restarts, basic certificate checks and updates, patching support, and health checks.

· Provide first-line operational support for AWS resources such as EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, S3, ACM, and RDS.

· Review system, application, and audit logs to identify service degradation, recurring issues, and security-relevant events.

· Assist with Linux system maintenance, software and kernel patching, configuration checks, and basic troubleshooting.

· Create, improve, and maintain small automation scripts, operational runbooks, and monitoring documentation.

· Use AI tools responsibly to accelerate troubleshooting, script creation, documentation, and routine automation, while validating all generated output before use.

· Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and support teams; escalate issues clearly with relevant evidence and business impact.

Required qualifications

· At least 3 years of hands-on technical experience in platform operations, NOC, system administration, technical support, cloud operations, or a similar role.

· Good practical Linux knowledge: command line, processes and services, filesystems, permissions, networking basics, log analysis, and first-level troubleshooting.

· Basic working knowledge of AWS and routine support activities. Familiarity with EC2, ELB/ALB, S3, ACM, RDS, and IAM concepts is expected.

· Hands-on experience with ELK / Elastic Stack and AWS CloudWatch / CloudTrail as a minimum; ability to review dashboards, alerts, logs, and basic queries.

· Bash scripting skills are required. Ability to read, adapt, and write simple scripts for operational tasks and automation.

· Understanding of monitoring, alerting, incident management, escalation, and on-call support practices.

· Practical ability to use AI assistants for technical work, including drafting and improving scripts and automation, with sound judgment and validation of results.

· English at B2 level or higher, with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and during incident coordination.

· A disciplined, detail-oriented approach, willingness to learn, and readiness to work within the required Vietnam-based schedule.

Nice to have

· Python and/or PowerShell scripting experience.

· VMware or other virtualization platform experience.

· Experience with patch management, certificate management, load balancer checks, database monitoring, or basic backup and recovery checks.

· Exposure to infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, container platforms, or configuration management tools.

· Experience with ticketing systems, runbooks, service-level targets, and post-incident reviews.

· Basic security operations knowledge, including access control, audit logs, and vulnerability or patch tracking.

What success looks like

· Monitoring: alerts and dashboards are reviewed promptly, with relevant evidence collected before escalation.

· Incident response: issues are triaged calmly, communicated clearly, and handled in line with agreed runbooks and escalation paths.

· Linux operations: routine maintenance and first-level troubleshooting are completed safely and documented.

· Automation and team support: recurring manual work is reduced through maintainable scripts, while other technical teams receive timely operational assistance.
