IDA AI Transformation Lead (f/m/d)

Allianz Global Investors is building a trusted, well-governed data foundation and making it ready for Artificial Intelligence (AI), initially with a focus on investment data. As GitHub Copilot, Genie and more generative AI tools become part of everyday investment and business processes, our ambition is to equip the Investment Data Area (IDA) function fully with practical tools that improve efficiency and quality across the data value chain, including IDS, Back Office and Middle Office.

This role establishes and scales the capability required to turn trusted data and business needs into governed AI solutions. In close alignment with our architecture function, you will shape the tools, framework, standards and ways of working that connect data with business needs. Successful MVPs will be transitioned into a sustainable run model for adoption across functions.

You will build and scale the overall capability that turns processes and data with the help of AI into trusted, governed pilots and enterprise capabilities. The role guides initiatives through the full lifecycle, from opportunity identification and experimentation to governance approval, productization, adoption and sustainable ownership.

It is a hands-on innovation role between business, technology and data: you define the transformation model, help teams apply it to real use cases and coordinate the business, data, governance, and technology capabilities required for sustainable delivery. A true transformation spirit is key for this role.

This position will be based in Munich or Frankfurt.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the capability — innovate, try, develop and implement (agentic) solutions
• Provide visible leadership for the AI transformation — set a clear direction and ambition for IDA, mobilize senior stakeholders around shared priorities, challenge existing ways of working, and build the commitment required to turn the enterprise AI strategy into measurable outcomes
• Own the transformation roadmap and use-case portfolio — establish a transparent intake and prioritization process based on business value, data readiness, feasibility and risk
• Build the creation and ownership model — enable functions to maintain and run the solutions in the long run
• Operating models — ensure the right access, classification and governance are applied, set the standards and align the operating models with our ODM framework
• Drive adoption across the firm — roll the model out to relevant functions and build the training that makes it stick
• Sustain it over time — maintain a living library of models, tools, modules as usage grows
• Keep it compliant and connected — meet EU regulatory expectations (DORA, the EU AI Act, GDPR), and partner closely with data, platform engineering and business teams.

What you bring

• A track record of building and scaling a capability or operating model across a large, complex organization — ideally in asset management or AI enablement — coaching and influencing teams that retain ownership, rather than relying on formal authority
• Strong consulting background: fast issue identification and solution orientation
• Hands-on experience with GitHub and Genie and its application in a multi-stakeholder environment
• True innovation spirit combined with strategic and organizational understanding to deliver impact
• A good understanding of data modelling and semantics / ontologies, and why they matter for making data AI-ready
• Conceptual fluency in generative AI and retrieval — embeddings, RAG and relevance ranking — sufficient to design and govern how AI consumes context (building the pipelines is done by platform engineering)
• Familiarity with a modern data platform such as Databricks / Unity Catalog — governance, lineage, classification and metadata
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and enablement — able to make technical concepts accessible and to build adoption across business and technical teams
• Experience in asset management or financial services
• Experience standing up and scaling a solution, knowledge or enablement capability
• Hands-on experience with ontology tooling and metadata / catalogue platforms
