POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing tasks related to scheduling, processing, coordination and dispatch for procedure and clinic services provided by Imaging. To provide patient scheduling services in a professional manner that reflects good public relations and adheres to Samaritan Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Value statements.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 6:00pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 1. Schedules patients/exams for Imaging (and any other departments, as necessary).
  • 2. Courteously and promptly answers all telephone calls and acknowledges customers in professional manner.
  • 3. Checks voice mail regularly to assure that all incoming calls are handled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • 4. Prints daily, a schedule for each modality of each exam scheduled for that day.
  • 5. Performs daily checks on minor equipment (printers, fax, etc.) to assure proper working order.
  • 6. Reports equipment/process malfunctions to the Director as soon as possible.
  • 7. Coordinates appointments to maximize efficient customer access to exams, procedures and tests.in collaboration with team lead for each modality.
  • 8. Verifies specified patient information, avoiding errors of record.
  • 9. Maintains patient confidentiality within organizational guidelines.
  • 10. Follows thru on all orders in a timely/efficient manner.
  • 11. Assures that the technologists have all of the paperwork necessary to perform the given exam.
  • 12. Communicates with Lead’s Technologist in each modality to ensure schedules are accurate, efficient and attainable.
  • 13. Communicates/Collaborates with Patient Services/Financial Access Specialist-FAS, Health Information Management, Clinics, and any other departments as necessary to facilitate patient flow.
  • 14. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • 15. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
  • 16. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
  • 17. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
  • 18. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
  • 19. Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The professional in the position reports to the Imaging Director. This position works closely with Patient Services.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Education:
a. High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience:
a. Previous clerical experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Skills/Competencies:
a. Ability to operate a multi-line phone system.
b. Ability to perform data entry using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred.
c. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
d. Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
e. Medical Terminology preferred.
f. Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist.
g. Critical thinking skills: Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate.
h. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines.
i. Demonstrates competency in ability to care for customers/patients across the age continuum.
