Implementation Engineer

Description The Implementation Engineer is responsible for the technical execution of customer implementation projects across OTAVA’s cloud, infrastructure, backup, disaster recovery, networking, and security solutions. Working closely with the Manager of Implementation, Solutions Engineering, Technical Services, and Customer Success teams, this role deploys, configures, validates, and documents customer environments while ensuring projects are delivered on time and according to design. The Implementation Engineer serves as a technical resource throughout the implementation lifecycle and provides a smooth transition from project delivery into ongoing operations. Responsibilities Execute customer implementation projects according to approved Statements of Work. Install, configure, migrate, and validate cloud and infrastructure solutions. Perform implementation activities for compute, storage, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and security services. Participate in project kickoffs and technical planning sessions. Ensure implementation milestones are completed on schedule. Technical Implementation Deploy VMware, virtualization, storage, networking, and cloud infrastructure solutions. Configure backup and disaster recovery environments. Perform customer migrations with minimal disruption. Execute system testing and validation before customer acceptance. Troubleshoot implementation issues and coordinate resolution with Engineering teams. Documentation Produce accurate implementation documentation. Update implementation runbooks and technical procedures. Maintain project records within Jira and related project management tools. Document customer configurations and operational handoffs. Customer Engagement Provide technical guidance throughout implementation projects. Participate in customer meetings when required. Communicate project status and technical risks. Ensure customer expectations remain aligned with implementation scope. Cross Functional Collaboration Work closely with: Solutions Engineering Technical Services Platform Engineering Customer Success Network Engineering Support successful transition from implementation into operational support. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve deployment processes. Recommend automation opportunities. Assist with development of implementation standards and best practices. Participate in knowledge sharing across engineering teams. Experience 10+ years implementing enterprise infrastructure solutions. Experience with managed services, hosting, or cloud providers. Hands-on experience implementing customer environments. Experience working on customer-facing technical projects. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities VMware vSphere VMware Cloud Foundation (preferred) Windows Server Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Routing) Storage technologies Backup solutions (Veeam preferred) Disaster Recovery Microsoft Azure fundamentals Active Directory Virtualization Security best practices Strong troubleshooting skills Excellent customer communication Ability to manage multiple concurrent implementation projects Strong documentation skills Ability to work independently Excellent organizational skills Ability to prioritize changing workloads Team-oriented mindset Strong analytical thinking Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
