Job Description Role: IMT Consultant – Data Services & AI Strategy Client: Government of Alberta Location: Remote (Work must be performed within Canada) Work Hours: 36.25 hours per week (08:15 – 16:30 Alberta Time) Project Overview The Government of Alberta’s Data and Content Management Division is advancing a federated data ecosystem to improve collaboration, data access, and innovation across ministries. The Data Centre of Excellence is seeking a consultant to support the design and development of data services that enable advanced capabilities such as analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and data orchestration. This role will contribute to the OneData Alberta Strategy, helping government teams better leverage data assets to improve services for Albertans. Key Responsibilities * Support the design and development of data platform and AI service offerings * Provide subject matter expertise on data management, analytics, and AI initiatives * Contribute to advancing the OneData Alberta Strategy and roadmap * Develop frameworks, models, and visual assets to support strategy execution * Create presentations and briefing materials for senior executives * Facilitate cross-ministry discussions and workshops on data and AI initiatives * Deliver roadshows and demonstrations to promote OneData Alberta capabilities * Define success metrics, outcomes, and performance indicators * Advise product and platform teams throughout the project lifecycle * Support collaboration across ministries and external stakeholders Areas of Focus Work may involve strategy and service development related to: * Data Platform Services * Data Management and Governance * Advanced Analytics * Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) * Generative and Agentic AI Services * Data Orchestration and Integration * DevSecOps Practices Working Conditions * Role is primarily remote, but candidates must work within Canada * Occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton may be required (approximately 3–4 times per year) * Travel or relocation costs are not reimbursed * Candidate must provide their own computer compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Background Check & Training * Criminal Record Check required before start * Mandatory FOIP and Security Awareness training upon onboarding Requirements 7+ years experience in Data Strategy / Data Management / Data Platforms Experience with AI, Machine Learning, and Advanced Analytics Strong knowledge of Data Governance, Data Architecture, and Data Ecosystems Experience with cloud platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP) Strong stakeholder management and executive presentation skills Experience in strategic planning, consulting, and roadmap development Must be eligible to work in Canada Ability to attend occasional meetings in Edmonton Willing to complete background check and mandatory training for the Government of Alberta role.
