Purpose and Scope You are to join our global tax team in and Advisor and PM type of function. This is a unique opportunity to combine international indirect tax leadership with global tax technology transformation, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our tax function. This critical role bridges global tax strategy with regional execution, serving as a primary business partner for the APAC region, while also supporting EMEA and the Americas. The successful candidate will operate a dual mandate: ensuring strong regional governance and business partnering excellence, while also driving global tax technology, digitalisation, and process innovation. You will contribute directly to the modernization of Astellas’ tax function—leading digital initiatives such as e-invoicing and real-time reporting, improving data quality, and supporting the design of scalable, global tax processes. Role and Responsibilities Business Partnering, Policies & Governance Lead complex indirect tax advisory and strategic planning initiatives, primarily supporting APAC and contributing to EMEA and Americas as needed Act as a trusted business partner, translating tax requirements into practical, value-added business solutions Manage and oversee tax authority audits and controversy matters across multiple jurisdictions Review complex indirect tax returns and provide guidance to regional and local finance teams Support compliance activities by advising affiliates on indirect tax queries and regulatory requirements Provide flexible, cross-regional support on indirect tax matters in collaboration with the global tax team Continue:Role and Responsibilities Global Tax Technology & Process Advancement Lead the implementation of digital tax obligations (e.g., e-invoicing, real-time reporting), including vendor management, solution design, and UAT coordination Drive data quality initiatives and perform root-cause analysis on tax data discrepancies, enhancing ERP controls (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) Support the design and deployment of automated workflows and reconciliation processes Maintain and optimize tax engine configurations (e.g., Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE) and drive global standardization of tax determination processes Essential Qualifications Demonstrated experience in international tax advisory/business partnering, project management, particularly tax transformation or process improvement initiatives Solid progressive experience in indirect tax (VAT/GST/Sales Tax), ideally within a Big 4 firm or multinational corporation Strong experience managing indirect tax matters across EMEA; exposure to APAC and/or Americas required is a plus Solid understanding of ERP systems (SAP / S/4HANA preferred) and upstream data impact on tax outcomes Exposure to tax engines (e.g., Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE) Interest in or experience with automation, digital tax tools, and data analytics Growth mindset with the agility to adopt new technologies, partner effectively with stakeholders, and translate global strategy into successful regional execution Fluency in English Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a globally matrixed organisation Hands-on involvement in digital tax initiatives such as e-invoicing or real-time reporting implementations Familiarity with workflow automation tools and data transformation processes Experience in driving standardization across multiple jurisdictions Japanese language skills are an advantage due to global stakeholder exposure Benefits Careers | Astellas Why Astellas We're seeking passionate individuals who thrive in dynamic environments, embrace new ideas and aren't afraid to take intelligent risks.
