Industrial Design Intern

Papyri is a Dubai-based, surface design studio exploring the intersection of materials, surfaces, objects and sculptural furniture.

Rooted in the cultural and tactile qualities of papyrus, the studio develops innovative architectural surfaces and material applications that translate ancient fibres into a contemporary design language.

Papyri is looking for a creative and visually driven Conceptual Designer/Industrial Designer Intern to join our team for a 2-month unpaid internship.

The role is open to candidates who are remote or Dubai-based.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys developing strong visual ideas and translating them into clear design directions — from the first concept and moodboard through to presentation.

What you’ll be working on:

• Concept development for products, furniture, objects and spatial ideas

• Moodboards and visual research

• Material, colour and texture exploration

• Sketching and early design development

• Storytelling and narrative development around collections

• Creating presentation boards and concept decks

• Supporting product launches, campaigns and new collections

• Developing visual directions for Papyri materials and products

We’d love to meet you if you have:

• A background in Product Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Architecture or a related creative field

• Strong conceptual and visual thinking

• A good eye for composition, colour, materials and storytelling

• Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills

• Sketching and presentation skills

• Experience with 3D software is a plus

• A genuine interest in materials, furniture, architecture and contemporary design

This is a 2-month unpaid internship / training opportunity with hands-on involvement in Papyri’s upcoming concepts, collections and launches.

Duration: 2 months
