Industrial Engineer Job Description The Industrial Engineer will develop and industrialize manufacturing processes for assigned projects, working on a hybrid schedule with three days onsite and two days remote. This role focuses on planning, procuring, and implementing manufacturing resources such as machines, fixtures, and tools, while calculating manufacturing costs and supporting new product introduction activities. The position requires close collaboration with global and local teams to optimize production, drive process improvements, and support the continuous enhancement of product development methods and standards. Responsibilities Develop and industrialize all necessary manufacturing processes within assigned projects, ensuring robust and efficient production methods. Plan, procure, and implement manufacturing resources, including machines, fixtures, tools, and other equipment required for production. Calculate manufacturing costs for processes such as injection molding and assembly, providing accurate cost estimates to support project decisions. Support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (P-FMEAs) to identify and mitigate potential process risks. Create process flow charts and production layouts for new product introduction (NPI) to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing. Create and maintain production-related views in SAP, including routings, bills of materials (BOM), equipment, work centers, and cost calculations. Collaborate with local production Industrial Engineers to analyze capacity impacts and estimate investment costs for new or modified processes. Develop detailed specifications for required production equipment to meet project and manufacturing requirements. Participate in the evaluation of concept studies and potential projects, contributing to project and location decisions. Drive the coordination of global change requests, ensuring alignment and effective implementation across locations. Promote the further development of the product development process, including methods and standards, to improve efficiency and quality. Proactively communicate with employees, supervisors, and other departments to ensure alignment and effective information flow. Participate in the active transfer of knowledge within the global operational environment and at key interfaces to support best practice sharing. Essential Skills Experience in manufacturing engineering and industrial engineering with a strong focus on process improvement and manufacturing processes. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or comparable specialized training preferred; extensive relevant experience and proven expertise may substitute for the degree. 5+ years of engineering work experience in a related industry, including at least 2 years of experience with injection molding product methodology. Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications. Experience using AutoCAD for layouts, drawings, or process documentation. SAP experience, particularly in production-related modules, preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across departments and locations. Demonstrated understanding of important quality control (QC) principles. Knowledge of project management practices and the ability to support projects from concept through implementation. Willingness to travel, including international travel, as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
