We have been a remote-first organization since our inception and are passionate about work-life balance, building impactful teams, and committed to creating environments that encourage collaboration, different points of view, and creative solutioning.
Truss is seeking a skilled InfraSec or platform engineer.
This role involves securing and operating the AWS environment that supports AI capabilities for a large federal program, as well as managing the underlying cloud infrastructure for its applications. Additionally, you will handle data engineering tasks, including ingesting and preparing documents and structured data essential for AI workflows.
You will collaborate with program engineers who possess deep domain and data knowledge, allowing you to focus on infrastructure and plumbing rather than being the domain expert. As the go-to person for AI infrastructure on AWS, you will establish patterns for other engineers and support multiple application teams.
The work is impactful, and the team is committed, but the program has strict security, privacy, and data retention requirements, demanding high performance and contribution from all members.
Like all Truss employees, you should possess excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and high emotional intelligence.
This role requires a commitment of 35 hours per week, including core hours from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM ET. Travel to Baltimore, MD, is required twice annually.
The hourly rate is $100 - $110, depending on experience. The contract extends through April 2027, with potential for extension.
Skillset:
- Experience supporting AI or machine learning models on AWS: provisioning, deploying, and operating AI services in production (e.g., Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker), including data pipelines.
- 3+ years in DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering.
- Experience building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipeline development.
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (e.g., ECS, EKS).
- Knowledge of identity and access management, secrets management, and cloud security best practices.
- Strong Python skills and working knowledge of SQL, with hands-on experience building data pipelines
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
A note on our interview process:
During the interview, you will not be required to write code. Instead, we will discuss code and infrastructure with you, assessing your ability to differentiate between quality work and subpar AI-generated output. Therefore, please refrain from using AI tools during the interview.
We want to get to know you: how you think, solve problems, and communicate. AI tools like LLMs are part of how many of us work day to day, and we're not opposed to them in the job. But the interview isn't the place for them. Using an LLM or any other AI assistance during any part of our interview process, including live conversations, take-home assignments, and assessments, will result in immediate disqualification. We want to fully understand your skills as they are, and we want you to have the chance to show them.
