Infrastructure Engineer (Software-Defined Storage & Kubernetes)

Help Build the Future of Enterprise Storage

We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to help design, deploy, and scale a next-generation Software-Defined Storage (SDS) platform supporting modern analytics, AI, and data-intensive workloads.

This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on platform architecture, technology selection, and infrastructure strategy while working with cutting-edge storage and Kubernetes technologies. You'll be part of a highly technical team responsible for building resilient, scalable, cloud-native storage solutions that power enterprise-scale environments.

What You'll Do

  • Deploy, configure, and operationalize software-defined storage solutions such as Ceph, MinIO, or similar platforms within Kubernetes environments
  • Evaluate emerging SDS technologies and contribute to platform architecture and engineering decisions
  • Develop automation for deployments, upgrades, and operational workflows using scripting and infrastructure tools
  • Create monitoring dashboards, alerting strategies, and operational runbooks to support highly available storage platforms
  • Perform performance benchmarking, scalability testing, and resiliency validation
  • Partner with infrastructure, security, platform, and application teams to integrate and harden storage solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage and infrastructure challenges in production environments
  • Contribute to architectural standards, documentation, and engineering best practices

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Storage Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Hands-on experience operating distributed or large-scale storage systems in production
  • Strong Linux systems administration experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered

Required Technical Skills

Software-Defined Storage

  • Experience deploying, administering, tuning, and troubleshooting SDS platforms such as:
    • Ceph
    • MinIO
    • SeaweedFS
    • Apache Ozone
    • Similar distributed object storage technologies
  • Ceph experience is highly preferred

Kubernetes

  • Experience deploying and managing storage infrastructure in Kubernetes environments
  • Understanding of containerized infrastructure and storage integration patterns

Automation & Scripting

  • Experience developing operational automation using:
    • Python
    • Go
    • Bash
    • Similar scripting languages

Distributed Systems

  • Understanding of:
    • High availability architectures
    • Fault tolerance
    • Scalability principles
    • Distributed storage concepts

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • S3-compatible object storage architectures and protocols
  • Observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry
  • Helm charts, Kubernetes Operators, and deployment automation frameworks
  • Storage security concepts including encryption, certificates, secrets management, and identity/access management
  • CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Large-scale enterprise production environments
  • AI, analytics, or data platform workloads

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
