Infrastructure Engineer – Azure / M365 / VMware
Location: Wilmslow, hybrid (3 days onsite)
Contract: 12 Months contract (Inside IR35) (High chance of extension)
Day rate: £325-375 per day
Start Date: TBC
Overview
Are you an infrastructure engineer who's as comfortable in Azure as you are in a server room? This role covers both: a mostly cloud-based estate, plus an on-site datacentre that needs someone who knows their way around it.
We're working with a global business in need of an Infrastructure Engineer at their Wilmslow site to keep core infrastructure stable, look after the datacentre, own backups, and play a hands-on part in bringing an acquired business into the group. The role is three days a week on site, so you'll need to be within a reasonable commute of Wilmslow.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Azure, M365 and hybrid identity across the estate.
- Keep the Wilmslow datacentre running, including VMware, physical hardware, storage and routine audits.
- Own backup and recovery, making sure jobs run, restores work and DR is tested.
- Support technical integration of the acquired business, including identity, tenant and infrastructure migration.
- Monitor the health of critical systems and report trends to IT management.
- Write scripts to automate deployments and routine tasks.
- Create and maintain documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure and M365.
- Active Directory and Entra ID / hybrid identity.
- VMware administration and hands-on datacentre experience.
- Enterprise backup and recovery experience (e.g. Veeam, Rubrik, Commvault).
- Able to be on site in Wilmslow Tuesday to Thursday.
- Clear communication and the ability to work across teams.
Desirable
- Certificate management and PKI.
- Linux administration.
- M&A, carve-out or tenant separation experience.
- PowerShell scripting.
- Nutanix, SAN/NAS or Exchange experience.
- Experience in regulated, medical or manufacturing environments.
- Azure, VMware, MCSA/MCSE or ITIL certifications.
Why Join?
- A key role in a major acquisition and integration programme.
- A good mix of cloud, on-prem and project work.
- Real ownership of the datacentre and backup estate.
- Hybrid working, with Mondays and Fridays from home.
