About the Hiring Group

Client Technology Operations (CTO) is RTI's client-focused technology organization responsible for delivering and operating the technology platforms, infrastructure, governance, engineering, and digital capabilities that enable RTI to develop, secure, and deliver technology-enabled solutions for clients.

This role supports enterprise infrastructure monitoring and data protection across on-premises and cloud environments. You will work with technologies such as SolarWinds and Cohesity to monitor system health and performance, support backup and recovery operations, troubleshoot technical issues, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement. This position offers the opportunity to build technical expertise across infrastructure monitoring, systems administration, and data protection while contributing to the reliability and availability of RTI's IT systems.

This position offers flexible work arrangements, including remote work within the U.S., hybrid, or on-site in our Research Triangle Park, NC headquarters location. Some geographic locations may not be available for remote work based on business and operational requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of the SolarWinds Platform (NPM, SAM, NTA, NCM) and Cohesity Data Platform (Cohesity Helios).

  • Configure and monitor daily backup policies protecting on-premises assets (VMware, physical servers) and cloud workloads (AWS, Azure) using Cohesity.

  • Customize SolarWinds alerting thresholds, maintain dashboards, and support integration of alerts with ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira) to maintain high environment visibility.

  • Leverage PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate routine monitoring, backup checks, and system administration tasks.

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure alerts, resolve backup failures, and perform routine data restoration requests to verify system integrity.

  • Maintain network configuration backups (via SolarWinds NCM), update standard operating procedures, and support compliance reporting activities.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of SOPs, system standards, business continuity plans, system test plans, and capacity plans.

  • Research technical solutions and contribute to evaluations and recommendations, including pros/cons and pricing, as needed.

  • Support the installation and configuration of hardware or software in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and technical specifications.

  • Conduct quality assurance testing to validate installed configurations and operations against technical specifications, documenting results and identifying issues as needed.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in response to alerts from monitoring tools or trouble reports from other ITS staff, escalating issues as appropriate.

  • Communicate status to impacted stakeholders, including end users, ITS support staff, and ITS management, before, during, and after installation or problem resolution, as appropriate and in accordance with SOPs.

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, information systems, or a related field and at least one year of relevant experience supporting IT infrastructure, systems administration, infrastructure monitoring, backup/recovery, or a related technical area.

  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting IT infrastructure, including servers, virtual environments, storage, networked systems, or cloud-based technologies.

  • Experience using at least one scripting language, such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash, for automation, system administration, or troubleshooting.

  • Working knowledge of infrastructure monitoring concepts, including system health, performance monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting.

  • Working knowledge of data protection concepts, including backups, restores, recovery, system availability, and business continuity.

  • Experience investigating technical issues, identifying potential causes, and implementing or recommending solutions, with guidance or escalation as appropriate.

  • Experience developing or maintaining technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, or standard operating procedures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage assigned tasks, prioritize competing responsibilities, and work both independently and collaboratively within a technical team.

  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SolarWinds or another enterprise infrastructure monitoring platform.

  • Experience with Cohesity or another enterprise backup and recovery platform.

  • Experience supporting VMware or other virtualization environments.
