Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of. Who We Are… When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next… From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive. Infrastructure Operations Engineer - Linux Focus Job Description Your New Role: The Infrastructure Operations Engineer - Linux Focus is responsible for monitoring and supporting WBD's global infrastructure platforms, with a focus on Linux operational support within enterprise environments. The role is part of the Tier 2 operations support team and acts as an escalation point for L1 teams for Linux-related alerts, incidents, operational queries, planned changes, and routine maintenance activities. Working with the IT Operations Manager and cross-technology Operations Engineers, this role supports the reliable operation of infrastructure services and participates in troubleshooting, documentation, change support, and continuous improvement activities. The role requires a versatile infrastructure operations mindset, with the ability to stay calm during incidents, follow established processes, communicate clearly, and escalate to Tier 3 Linux Engineering, vendor, or specialist teams when deeper technical support is required. Highlights of the role The position is part of a unified technical operations team made up of multiple disciplines, providing support across WBD technical infrastructure. The engineer will support Linux operations alongside broader infrastructure activities and will collaborate with application, database, VMware, network, storage, backup, security, engineering, and vendor-support teams where required. Working as part of the Tier 2 Operations team in Hyderabad, the role will support L1 teams, monitor Linux infrastructure alerts, assist with standard Linux administration tasks, contribute to operational documentation, and help improve recurring support processes. This role provides an opportunity to build deeper expertise in Linux administration, patching, monitoring, automation, and service reliability while remaining aligned to the existing Infrastructure Operations Engineer level. The work is in hybrid mode - 3 days office / 2 days home. The team currently works in an 8/5 model, but the operating model may be subject to change based on business requirements, including support for major events, planned maintenance, or critical outage situations. Your Role Accountabilities: Act as the initial point of escalation for L1 teams for Linux infrastructure alerts, incidents, service requests, and operational queries. Support Linux server operational activities including basic provisioning support, decommissioning support, user and service account administration, SUDO access requests, service checks, filesystem reviews, and routine maintenance tasks. Aid in troubleshooting common Linux issues related to server availability, CPU, memory, disk and filesystem usage, /boot capacity, processes, services, SSH, DNS, authentication, connectivity, and operating system performance. Perform initial investigation using available monitoring tools, logs, runbooks, checklists, and evidence, escalating to Tier 3 Linux Engineering or vendor support when deeper technical resolution is required. Support installation, validation, upgrade coordination, and first-level troubleshooting of infrastructure agents and tools such as SentinelOne, Tenable, Splunk Universal Forwarder, VMware Tools, and monitoring agents. Assist with Linux patching activities by supporting pre-checks, post-checks, reboot coordination, maintenance-window activities, validation, and rollback-readiness documentation under established procedures. Identify repetitive operational tasks and contribute to scripts, checklists, Ansible/Jenkins workflows, or other automation opportunities where appropriate and under guidance from senior engineers. Participate in P1/P2 incident bridges, planned maintenance, change activities, root cause analysis support, knowledge documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate with Application, Database, VMware, Network, Storage, Backup, Security, L3 Engineering, and vendor-support teams during Linux-related incidents, changes, or service reviews. Maintain accurate ServiceNow updates, operational checklists, standard operating procedures, server inventory notes, knowledge documents, and shift handovers. Provide clear technical updates, incident observations, escalation details, recovery status, and handover notes to global teams and stakeholders. Act as a super-user for selected Linux operational processes or onboardings, preparing clear documentation and sharing knowledge with the wider operations team. Qualifications & Experiences: The candidate must have the right to work in India to participate in the recruitment process. 3+ years of infrastructure operations, systems administration, service desk L2 support, Linux operations, or related technical support experience. Working knowledge of Linux administration, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, or 9, including basic troubleshooting and operational support. Experience or exposure to user and group administration, SUDO, SSH, systemd services, process management, packages, logs, cron, filesystems, mounts, permissions, and routine operating-system checks. Exposure to Linux patching activities such as YUM, DNF, RPM, patch pre-checks and post-checks, reboot coordination, validation, and maintenance-window support. Ability to support investigation of common Linux issues related to CPU, memory, disk, filesystem, /boot, services, DNS, authentication, and connectivity using documented procedures and available evidence. Basic knowledge of LVM, XFS or EXT filesystems, mounts, capacity checks, and disk or filesystem expansion concepts is preferred. Working knowledge of VMware-based Linux virtual machines, VMware Tools, enterprise monitoring environments, TCP/IP, DNS, and basic enterprise networking is preferred. Experience with ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM tools and an understanding of incident, request, change, problem, SLA, and documentation workflows. Ability to support critical incidents, capture evidence, document findings, and escalate clearly to Tier 3 engineering or vendor support when required. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Ability to stay calm during incidents, work under pressure, and communicate technical updates clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn across infrastructure technologies. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Ability to support process improvements, documentation updates, knowledge sharing, and training of new starters or team members where required. Not Required but preferred experience: Exposure to Red Hat Satellite for patching or content lifecycle management. Exposure to Ansible, Jenkins, Python, shell scripting, or other infrastructure automation frameworks. Working knowledge of SentinelOne, Tenable, Splunk Universal Forwarder, SolarWinds, Automox, or similar enterprise tools. Exposure to VMware Tools upgrades, DNS migrations, server inventory validation, brownout, or decommission programs. Basic understanding of enterprise backup, storage, cloud, and network services. Red Hat, OS administration, virtualization, cloud, or ITIL certification. How We Get Things Done… This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done.
