The Innovation & Ingredient Specialist is an integral role within the MaryRuth’s Science & Innovation team, supporting product ideation and development through extensive ingredient research, evaluating and partnering with ingredient suppliers and co-manufacturers, and collaborating with other internal Operations teams to expand and refine the new product pipeline. Reporting to the Director of Science & Innovation, this is a full-time, salaried, remote position with a compensation range of MXN $36,833 to $38,500 per month. Responsibilities Conduct ingredient research reviews including mechanisms of action, clinical evidence quality, dosing, and regulatory status (NDI, GRAS, structure/function claims). Evaluate supplier-provided dossiers, white papers, and study summaries for methodology and claims supportability. Support the development of internal ingredient research reports for hero ingredients and new product pipeline concepts. Own ongoing supplier communication: sample requests, technical documentation, pricing, MOQ, and relationship maintenance. Support competitive landscape research by monitoring new product launches, category trends, and emerging ingredients across key retail channels. Support innovation summits with ingredient suppliers and contract manufacturers including prep, documentation, and follow-through. Contribute ingredient research and intelligence to support strategic product briefs. Synthesize diverse information sources- supplier documentation, clinical literature, and competitive landscape- into clear internal outputs. Track emerging ingredient categories, format trends, and consumer behavior shifts relevant to the MaryRuth's innovation pipeline. Maintain and update the Sc.I supplier, ingredient, and claims database ensuring accuracy and sourcing traceability. Other responsibilities as assigned. Some travel (<10%) may be required on an as needed basis, with advance notice provided to the employee. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Biology, or a related life sciences field (or equivalent experience) required. Minimum 1-3 years of experience in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, natural products, or health & wellness consumer packaged goods required. Business/professional level of fluency in written and verbal English is required (e.g. B2, C1, C2). Working knowledge of branded ingredient ecosystems, supplement regulations (DSHEA, NDI, structure/function claims), and ingredient evidence evaluation strongly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience or comfort working with international partners and suppliers across time zones. Comfortable in external-facing settings: supplier calls, trade show floors, co-manufacturer meetings, industry conferences, etc. Experience interacting directly with ingredient suppliers or contract manufacturers. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects independently. Familiarity with AI-assisted research tools, competitive intelligence platforms, or ingredient databases. Exposure to retail supplement categories (Walmart, Costco, Amazon, Whole Foods) and channel-specific dynamics. Experience supporting strategic briefs, innovation decks, or new product development processes. Physical Requirements Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
