Job Description - Inspections & Compliance Clerk II (55971) Job Description Inspections & Compliance Clerk II Job Number : 55971 Are you an organized, detail-oriented administrative professional who thrives in a dynamic environment? Join our Development Services team and play an integral part in supporting smooth, effective enforcement operations across Edmonton! As an Inspections & Compliance Clerk, you will provide vital administrative and operational logistics support to our field officers and technical specialists. You will respond to public inquiries, manage file workflows, assist with legal document preparation, and ensure seamless coordination across our compliance teams. Your work directly enables our officers to maximize their time in the field keeping our communities safe and vibrant. What will you do? Intake, triage, and process public service requests and complaints using enterprise database systems like POSSE and CRM Prepare, proofread, format, and distribute official legal notices, warnings, orders, and violation tickets under relevant statutory frameworks Act as a Commissioner of Oaths to complete affidavits of service and deliver court briefs in support of legal and appeal processes Serve as a primary administrative contact, handling inquiries from community partners, land developers, contractors, and internal teams Maintain accurate electronic and physical file retention systems in compliance with municipal privacy standards Manage operational logistics for field teams, including equipment ordering, PPE distribution, and mileage verification De-escalate sensitive or high-stress inquiries with patience, clarity, and diplomacy Coordinate regular meetings, draft agendas, record minutes, and manage section directories Refresh training materials, standard operating procedures, and administrative job aids on an ongoing basis Qualifications : Completion of the 12th grade including business subjects emphasizing general office practices, or an appropriate business certificate from an approved college/school Minimum of two (2) years of diversified experience in general office practices and administrative procedures Assets: Experience providing guidance or orientation to administrative team members Active Commissioner of Oaths appointment in Alberta Familiarity with the City of Edmonton Zoning Bylaw, Municipal Government Act (MGA), or Provincial Offences and Procedures Act (POPA) Direct experience navigating enterprise municipal systems such as POSSE, CRM, or SAP Skills required for success: Precision in formatting, proofreading, and processing legal documentation without error Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and database management software Strong conflict resolution skills to manage sensitive interactions constructively Clear written and verbal communication to explain complex regulatory procedures to non-technical audiences Exceptional organization and time management to balance high-volume, time-sensitive tasks Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential, legally sensitive files Adaptability to reprioritize daily workflows in response to urgent operational or leadership needs Collaborative mindset with a commitment to maintaining strong relationships across internal branches Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( https://bit.ly/4brRrXm ) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion Conditions of Employment: CRC - Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement Applicants may be tested Work Environment: Note : This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52 The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.
