Instructional Designer

We’re looking for an experienced Freelance Instructional Designer to support a healthcare education initiative on a contract basis. This role is ideal for someone who excels at translating complex clinical or technical content into engaging, effective learning experiences.

About the work

You’ll collaborate with subject-matter experts and a small project team to design and develop high-quality educational materials for healthcare professionals. The focus is on clear learning outcomes, strong instructional strategy, and practical application.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop instructional content for adult learners (e.g. eLearning modules, blended learning, facilitator guides, assessments)
• Translate complex subject matter into clear, learner-centric experiences
• Apply sound instructional design frameworks (ADDIE, SAM, or similar)
• Collaborate with SMEs, project managers, and creative partners
• Iterate on content based on feedback and learning objectives

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as an Instructional Designer (freelance or contract preferred)
• Experience in healthcare, medical, or professional education is strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
• Comfortable working with SMEs and ambiguous or evolving content
• Portfolio or examples of relevant work

Nice to have

• Experience with eLearning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate, Rise, Storyline)
• Familiarity with compliance, clinical, or regulated learning environments
