Job Description - Intake Coordinator (127169) Intake Coordinator Job Number: 127169 Job : Administrative/Service Primary Location : Ontario-Hamilton This position will be located at : Offsite Location Organization : Health & Safety Status : Regular Full-time Hours per week : 37.5 Number of Openings : 1 Union Code : Non Union Employees Salary : 28.7100 - 36.8100 Hourly Post Date : Sep 16, 2026, 4:00:00 AM Close Date (Period for Applying) - External : Sep 23, 2026, 3:59:00 AM Unit Summary The Ability and Attendance team within Health, Safety and Wellness at Hamilton Health Sciences is accountable for the disability management, accommodation, return to work and attendance management processes through an effective incident capture, triage and response process and for providing the supports necessary to enable reasonable and regular attendance at work by all staff. Position Summary The Intake Coordinator is responsible for the processing of sick leaves including initiating Short Term Disability (STD) claims, applications for Long Term Disability (LTD), occupational claims and applications for HOOPP free accrual. The Coordinator provides hands on, consistent support to ensure accurate and timely administration of sick leaves with necessary and accurate documentation and reporting. This includes completion of STD/LTD Employer statements, providing earnings information and eligibility information to the long term disability carrier and external insurance companies. This requires working closely with members of the HSW Ability & Attendance team, HR Shared Services, HR Services, Labour Relations, and other stakeholders as required. Schedule Work Hours Monday to Friday, Days This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement under the HHS Remote Work Policy Qualifications Community College - Disability Management or Human Resources Management 1-3 years experience in Human Resources required Experience working in a large unionized multi-site environment Strong understanding of the Employment Standards Act, a strong ability to interpret the Collective Agreement language and the ability to review and understand policies and procedures within the organization Experience in customer service role written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with MS Office and HRIS Excellent abilities in critical thinking, problem analysis, and solution development Ability to handle stressful issues and communicate with a variety of people and situations in a courteous, professional manner Ability to work with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality Ability to work independently, organize and establish priorities and ensure project and task deadlines are met Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills Guidelines Hamilton Health Sciences fosters a culture of patient and staff safety, whereby all employees are guided by our Mission, Vision, Values, and Values Based Code of Conduct.
