Integration Architect
NessRole
Own the Salesforce to SAP integration for an order management build at a beverage manufacturer. You run a two-week solution discovery with the client's IT team, agree the interface contract, then design and lead the integration through five build sprints to a February go-live. You are the senior technical voice on the integration and you write the specification the client's SAP team builds against.
What you will do
- Agree an interface contract with the client's IT team covering the SAP services to be consumed, payload structures, error semantics, idempotency handling and retry behaviour.
- Design inbound synchronisation of order header and line records from SAP into Salesforce over SAP Integration Suite.
- Design write-back into SAP of order amendments, cancellations and return authorisations, including the reason codes recorded against each.
- Design write-back integrity: validation, exception handling and reconciliation controls for failed, partial and duplicate transactions, a reconciliation record for every instruction originating in Salesforce, and a concurrency control that re-reads order state from SAP immediately before submission.
- Establish during discovery the SAP services available, the SAP release in use, the order state model, authorisation thresholds, and the volume and cut-off of historic order data.
- Work inside an existing programme team alongside a US-based lead architect, in that programme's sprint ceremonies and testing cycle.
Essential
- Eight to ten years in Salesforce, currently operating as a solution or technical architect.
- Salesforce to SAP integration delivered end to end, including transactional write-back into SAP rather than read-only surfacing of SAP data.
- Integration patterns for transactional systems: idempotency keys, correlation identifiers, retry and backoff, dead-letter handling, and reconciliation between two systems of record.
- SAP sales order interfaces for create, change and cancel, across both BAPI over RFC and OData. The client's SAP release is not yet confirmed, so both are required.
- Salesforce integration mechanics: Apex callouts, named credentials, platform events, External Services, and the Salesforce Order data model.
- Able to write an interface specification precise enough for a third-party SAP team to build against, and to hold that conversation directly with the client.
- Fluent English, working the programme's ceremonies with a US-based team.
Desirable
- SAP Integration Suite, specifically Cloud Integration. This is the client's first use of the platform.
- Salesforce Integration Architect certification.
- Manufacturing, consumer packaged goods or food and beverage order-to-cash exposure.
