Job Description

Owns the end-to-end integration architecture for the program. Acts as the single point of accountability for how enterprise integrations fit together. Translates business and functional requirements into architecture patterns, integration standards, and a design blueprint that the rest of the team builds against. Works closely with the Integration Lead, client architects, and platform SMEs (Red Hat and Microsoft/Azure sides) to ensure the solution is scalable, secure, and supportable.

Responsibilities:

Define the target-state integration architecture, including sync/async patterns, event-driven design, and API-led connectivity across HIP and Azure

Author and maintain architecture decision records (ADRs), integration design standards, naming conventions, and reusable pattern catalogs (e.g., request-reply, pub-sub, claim-check, content-based routing, saga/compensation)

Define the Kafka topic strategy (topic design, partitioning, schema governance) and its interplay with Azure Service Bus/Logic Apps

Define the API strategy through 3Scale (API tiers, versioning, security policies, throttling/rate limiting)

Lead architecture governance — design reviews, non-functional requirement (NFR) sign-off (latency, throughput, resilience, DR)

Own the security and compliance posture for integration flows (OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, data-in-transit/at-rest, PII handling between on-prem HIP and Azure)

Guide the Integration Development Lead and Designer on solution-level design decisions and resolve cross-team design conflicts

Interface with client enterprise architecture, Red Hat account/solution architects, and Microsoft Azure architects

Produce architecture artifacts: context diagrams, sequence diagrams, data flow diagrams, capacity/sizing models

Requirements:

8+ years in integration/enterprise architecture, with at least 3–4 years designing hybrid (on-prem + cloud) integration platforms

Deep hands-on-turned-architectural experience with Apache Camel, Red Hat Fuse/AMQ, and Spring Boot microservices

Strong working knowledge of Kafka architecture (topics, partitions, consumer groups, schema registry, exactly-once semantics)

Experience designing API management strategies on 3Scale (or equivalent — Apigee, Mulesoft, Kong, Azure APIM)

Solid understanding of Azure integration services — Service Bus, Logic Apps, API Management, Event Grid/Event Hub

Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Dynamics 365 integration patterns (Dataverse events, virtual entities, connectors)

Proven track record producing architecture governance artifacts (ADRs, design standards, NFR frameworks)

Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills across client, delivery, and platform vendor teams
