Job Description

3 Months Contract with a Local Authority

Umbrella - £31.89 per hour - Umbrella

Job Purpose

As an Intelligence & Impact Analyst, you will support Southwark Council in delivering evidence-based decision making through advanced data analysis, business intelligence reporting, and performance management. You will develop Power BI dashboards, automate reporting processes, analyse complex datasets, and provide actionable insights that support service improvement and strategic planning.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Lead analytical and intelligence activities across assigned service areas.
  • Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and visualisations.
  • Build data models and reporting frameworks.
  • Design and implement automated reporting processes using Power Automate.
  • Gather, document, and translate business requirements into reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Produce high-quality reports, dashboards, and management information products.
  • Deliver insight that supports service transformation and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop performance indicators, outcomes frameworks, and KPI reporting.
  • Conduct forecasting, evaluations, and needs assessments.
  • Support policy development through robust data analysis and evidence gathering.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues.
  • Conduct data reviews and literature reviews.
  • Present analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with data governance and information security requirements.
  • Build effective working relationships with services, managers, and external partners.

Essential Experience Required

  • Significant experience working as a Data Analyst, Intelligence Analyst, Insight Analyst, Performance Analyst, or Business Intelligence Analyst.

  • Advanced Power BI experience including:

    • Dashboard Development
    • Data Modelling
    • Data Visualisation
    • Reporting Automation
    • DAX
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Platform.

  • Experience developing automated workflows using Power Automate.

  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.

  • Experience working closely with service managers and stakeholders.

  • Experience analysing large and complex datasets.

  • Experience producing performance reports and management information.

  • Experience presenting complex information in a clear and actionable format.

  • Strong project delivery and stakeholder management skills.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Experience

  • SQL.
  • Python.
  • Power Platform Development.
  • MapInfo.
  • Stata.
  • SAS Enterprise.
  • R.
  • Local Government or Public Sector experience.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Statistics, Performance Management, Information Management, or a related field.
  • Right to Work in the UK.

Additional Information to Note

  • Working hours: 36 hours per week.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • 3 days remote working.
  • 2 days office based.
  • Location: 160 Tooley Street, London, SE1 2QH.
  • Contract Length: 3 months.
