Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim AI/ Technology Counsel to cover a parental leave at a leading Insurance Company. Overview: A Global Insurance Company seeks an AI/ Technology Counsel to assist a company with a parental leave. Company: Global Insurance Company. Experience: At least 5-10 years of experience in AI and Technology with a focus on candidates with AI Goverance Framework experience. Location: Remote Responsibilities Include: Advise business units and functional stakeholders on legal and regulatory issues relating to artificial intelligence, data and information governance, privacy, and other emerging technologies. Monitor, interpret, and provide practical advice regarding emerging global laws and regulations impacting AI and data-related initiatives. Support governance and control functions in the management of AI-related risk , including reviewing and advising on firmwide systems, policies, procedures, and controls for the oversight of AI systems. Collaborate closely with colleagues across Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Technology, Operations, and business teams to identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with new and existing AI and data initiatives. Conduct and support AI use case vetting , including assessing issues such as: whether a tool is making or informing automated decisions, whether there is meaningful human oversight or a “human in the loop,” whether third-party, proprietary, confidential, or public data is involved, and what legal, privacy, IP, regulatory, employment, or market data considerations may be implicated. Partner with internal subject matter experts (including colleagues in areas such as employment law, insurance law, privacy, IP, regulatory, and market data ) to ensure that relevant legal issues are escalated and addressed appropriately. Help determine what user guidance, governance requirements, policy language, or controls should be implemented based on the applicable regulatory framework and risk profile of an AI use case. Provide legal support for company’s broader digitization and AI initiatives , including strategic and enterprise-level projects. Act as a thought leader on legal and regulatory issues involving AI and emerging technologies, including: reviewing regulatory developments and AI surveys, analyzing new laws and proposed rules, and, where appropriate, supporting input through trade associations or other industry channels on pending legislation or regulation. Serve as a practical connector across functions, helping move initiatives forward by identifying key issues, coordinating stakeholders, and driving timely legal review in a fast-evolving environment. Qualifications Include: J.D. and active bar membership in good standing. Significant legal experience advising on AI, data governance, privacy, and/or emerging technology matters. Strong in-house legal experience supporting cross-functional business and operational teams. Demonstrated ability to spot legal and regulatory issues across multiple subject areas, even when not serving as the ultimate subject matter expert in each. Experience advising on AI governance, AI use case review, or enterprise deployment of AI tools. Strong understanding of legal and practical issues related to: privacy and data governance, automated decision-making, human oversight / human-in-the-loop frameworks, third-party tools and vendors, and enterprise AI adoption. Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment with many moving parts and stakeholders. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to “herd cats,” coordinate legal review, and keep cross-functional workstreams moving. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into practical business guidance. Preferred Experience in the insurance industry, HR/employment-related legal issues, or a technology company environment. Familiarity with AI tools and model differences in enterprise settings, including practical awareness of how different products may raise different legal, privacy, governance, and operational considerations. Exposure to agentic AI solutions, advanced AI workflows, and enterprise AI implementation issues. Experience helping to build, maintain, or refine components of an AI governance framework. Comfort operating as a generalist in a sophisticated legal environment, while knowing when and how to engage specialized colleagues. Pay rate: $90 Individual compensation offered for this position within the pay range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
