Position Summary: As an Interior Designer I at HED, you are beginning your professional journey in an environment rooted in collective wisdom, innovation, and purposeful collaboration. This role supports project teams in developing thoughtful interior environments that are rooted in creative inquiry, technical coordination, and a passion for design excellence. You will work closely under the guidance of more experienced team members and actively contribute to the realization of HED's integrated architectural and engineering practice. As an early-career designer, you will be mentored by senior staff and given opportunities to develop technical skills, creative voice, and professional confidence. Essential Functions: Support the interior design team with concept development, space planning, material and finish selection, and presentation preparation Assist in developing design documentation including drawings, renderings, and schedules using tools such as Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Enscape Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other consultants to integrate interior design components within larger project frameworks Participate in client and team meetings, taking notes and preparing materials as directed Maintain awareness of project schedules, deliverables, and quality standards under supervision Create visual assets such as diagrams, material boards, or renderings under guidance Help maintain sample library and organize digital reference files Conduct product and materials research aligned with project goals, sustainability initiatives, and certification pursuits such as WELL or LEED when applicable Uphold HED’s design philosophy by contributing to a studio culture that values curiosity, collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to design excellence Perform administrative or design tasks as assigned to support the team and project success Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field from a CIDA-accredited program 0–2 years of professional experience in interior design or a related discipline Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and Microsoft Office Exposure to Enscape, Rhino, and Bluebeam Revu is preferred Foundational knowledge of interior materials, FF&E, and building systems Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to receive feedback constructively and demonstrate an eagerness to learn Enthusiastic attitude and a collaborative mindset Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in person Must be able to assist with field verification and site visits Visual acuity to perform responsibilities Work Environment: We embrace a hybrid model that promotes both autonomy and collaboration, including the freedom to work from home, with regular in-office days to connect with teammates and build culture.
