Turner & Townsend seeks an Intermediate Cost Engineer with a construction background to work in a client-facing role supporting a major capital construction program in Monaca, PA, approximately 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

This role provides cost engineering services across a portfolio of projects, with a focus on cost reporting, forecasting, change management, and the identification of project risks and opportunities. The successful candidate will deliver meaningful cost insights, support informed decision-making, and help drive successful project outcomes throughout the construction lifecycle.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and trend analyses.
  • Analyze project cost data to identify risks, opportunities, and potential variances.
  • Support development and maintenance of project budgets, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and work breakdown structures (WBS).
  • Implement and maintain project change management processes, including trend tracking and impact assessments.
  • Track commitments, expenditures, accruals, and contingency usage throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support project teams with cost forecasting, estimate-to-complete analysis, and cash flow reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of project controls dashboards, metrics, and performance reports.
  • Provide cost engineering support during project planning, execution, and closeout phases.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.
  • Maintain project controls documentation and records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Support benchmarking, lessons learned, and historical cost data collection initiatives.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

  • 2-5 years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, estimating, cost management, or construction project support roles.
  • Experience supporting construction, industrial, manufacturing, or large capital projects.
  • Understanding of cost control, forecasting, budgeting, change management, and project reporting principles.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing cost reports, forecasts, budgets, and project performance metrics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities from project data.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project controls software.
  • Familiarity with SAP, EcoSys, Primavera, or similar systems is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a client-focused approach.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, project controls, or a related field preferred.
