Akamai’s Corporate Sustainability team works across the company to support our environmental and energy management systems and key sustainability programs. We are looking for a business-minded, adaptable intern to support our team with data analysis, process tracking, and cross-functional initiatives. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders across the business to help drive efficiency, support emissions accounting, and advance strategic sustainability projects.

As a participant in our program, you will gain valuable experience and make contributions through meaningful project work. You will have the opportunity to join us for trainings, networking events, and engagements with company leadership. Our 2027 12-week intern program starts on May 24th and goes through August 13th.

Partner with the best

In this role, you will help connect business operations with corporate sustainability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners, building foundational experience in data analysis, operational workflows, and stakeholder communication in a global enterprise setting.

As a Corporate Sustainability Intern, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating Across Teams: Partner closely with the Corporate Sustainability team and operational teams across Akamai to support company-wide sustainability-focused programs and projects.
  • Supporting Carbon Accounting: Assist with Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting, data collection, and process tracking across categories such as travel, shipping, and energy management.
  • Driving Process & System Improvements: Help evaluate, document, and refine internal processes related to Akamai’s environmental and energy management system and operational workflows.
  • Analyzing & Communicating Trends: Evaluate activity, energy and emissions data to track performance, identify trends and efficiency opportunities, and share actionable insights across internal groups.
  • Engaging Internal & External Stakeholders: Participate in cross-functional project meetings, sit in on external auditor calls, and assist with direct vendor or partner communications as needed.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Possess Business and Sustainability Aptitude: Be pursuing a Bachelors in business, business analytics, or a related field paired with a foundational understanding of corporate sustainability concepts and frameworks.
  • Be Proficient with Data & Process Analysis: Ability to review quantitative data, organize information efficiently, and map out operational processes to identify improvement areas.
  • Have Strong Professional Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable interacting professionally across internal teams and with external partners or auditors.
  • Be a Quick Learner & a Systems Thinker: High capacity for understanding complex, interconnected processes, applying change management principles, and adapting quickly to new tools, frameworks, and concepts.
  • Have Initiative & Attention to Detail: Self-motivated team player with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to project work.
