The Role

Are you curious about how privacy laws, artificial intelligence and digital technologies shape the way global companies operate? Do you enjoy digging into complex legal questions, exploring new technologies and finding smarter ways of working? Would you like to see how these topics come together in an international biotechnology company? Keep on reading!

We are looking for a highly motivated intern to join our Global Privacy, Data & Digital Counsel team at Genmab. As Genmab continues to grow internationally, our team helps the organization navigate an increasingly complex landscape of privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and AI regulations. From understanding data protection requirements in new markets to assessing the responsible use of AI tools, there are many interesting questions to explore. During this internship, you will work closely with experienced legal professionals on longer-term research projects and practical improvements to our ways of working. You will have the opportunity to investigate regulatory developments across different countries, explore how AI can support legal research, and help make complex information more accessible to colleagues across Genmab.

You won't be expected to have all the answers. We're looking for someone who enjoys asking questions, researching unfamiliar topics, experimenting with technology, and turning findings into something useful. Does this sound like something that interests you? We look forward to receiving your application and exploring the possibility of you joining our team! Help us get to know you by submitting a CV and motivation letter.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth legal and regulatory research on privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on international and cross-border requirements.
  • Investigate how data protection laws and regulatory requirements differ between countries, for example in relation to international data transfers, data residency, and local privacy obligations.
  • Research emerging legal and regulatory developments, including relevant guidance, regulatory interpretations, and case law, and summarize findings for review by the team.
  • Explore how AI tools and emerging technologies can support legal research, regulatory monitoring, and everyday workflows, while considering accuracy, reliability, and responsible use.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve existing processes for privacy assessments, AI tool reviews, and internal requests from other departments.
  • Support improvements to internal tools and systems, including exploring ways to better connect existing workflows and information sources.
  • Develop practical resources such as FAQs, guidance documents, regulatory updates, and internal knowledge pages to help colleagues navigate privacy and digital compliance topics.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Legal, Compliance, IT, HR, and other functions to better understand their needs and contribute to practical solutions.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences, preferably in Law, IT Law, Privacy Law, European Law, Legal Technology, Information Management, Business, Technology, or related disciplines.
  • Able to complete the internship as a formal educational placement, supported by an internship agreement between your educational institution, Genmab and yourself.
  • Available for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Strong interest in privacy, data protection, AI regulation, and the legal challenges associated with emerging technologies.
  • Enjoys conducting detailed research, exploring complex questions, and translating findings into clear, structured summaries.
  • Familiarity with commonly used AI tools and curiosity about how technology can improve research and everyday processes.
  • Comfortable learning new digital tools and systems, with an interest in improving how information and workflows are organized.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail and a willingness to explore different approaches.
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn, with good communication skills in English.
  • Able to work collaboratively in an international environment and comfortable asking questions when exploring unfamiliar topics.

General Information

  • Internship duration: 6-9 months.
