As an International Content Writer, you'll be responsible for researching, creating, reviewing and maintaining health, safety, environmental and energy content for the Barbour International service.
Using legislation, official guidance and industry intelligence from multiple jurisdictions, you'll produce clear, accurate and practical content for a professional audience. This will include a range of content types, such as technical guides, legislation summaries and compliance-focused resources.
Working to Barbour's quality standards, you'll ensure content remains accurate, up to date and aligned with user needs, while managing priorities effectively to meet production deadlines. The role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, supporting the management, organisation and quality assurance of Barbour's content library. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, systems and content, while contributing to a significant business transformation project.

- To create, update and review health, safety, environment and energy focused international content providing guidance on relevant legislation and official guidance and how to remain compliant. This content focusses on a number of jurisdictions.
- To research and gain a comprehensive understanding of health, safety, environment and energy topics being covered.
- To be comfortable digesting, analysing and summarising legislation, official guidance and governance information for use in the end guidance content.
- To be comfortable determining information, news and topics which would be relevant to our audience.
- To become familiar and knowledgeable on sources of official information, government and legislative structures and to keep up to date with current affairs relating to this sector.
- To work to defined content templates and specifications which define both the structure and guide on the extent of coverage.
- To create content which is suitable for a professional, business-to-business audience; being factual, interesting, digestible and very well written and structured.
- Ensure the correctness and accuracy of content. Raising any issues or queries identified at any point during the content research, review and creation process.
- Review, assess and verify content produced by other writers.
- The taxonomy of content, ensuring the accurate and complete taxonomy of international legislation and guidance content.
- A comprehensive understanding of the CMS platform elements applicable to taxonomy and international content.
- To work to and define production deadlines and be comfortable working under pressure.
Qualifications
Experience
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above.
- Relevant qualification in Content Writing, Research, Compliance, Law, Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Energy, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Experience in content writing, research, compliance, law, health & safety, environmental, energy, or a related field.
- Experience researching, analysing and translating complex information into clear, accurate content for professional audiences.
- Experience or knowledge of Health & Safety, Environmental and/or Energy sectors (desirable).
- Understanding of legislation, regulatory requirements and legal governance frameworks (desirable).
- Location: Remote based
- Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week across Monday to Friday from 9am – 5:30pm
- Reporting to: Editorial Director
