Job Summary
This role serves as the primary owner of payer account relationships and is a central driver of business development for Mass General Brigham International (MGBI). The position emphasizes proactive identification, cultivation, and advancement of high‑value global payer partnerships that fuel revenue growth and expand international patient access. The role integrates strategic relationship management, market intelligence, and cross‑functional collaboration to develop a robust pipeline of payer opportunities aligned with MGB's long-term growth priorities. The role also works closely with the international patient services financial team and maintains accountability to the Chief Contracting Officer.Ability to travel on behalf of MGBI to engage with international payers in a variety of countries, in alignment with Business Development strategic plans and the core business. Major partner with in-country BD leads to support payer relations.
Essential Functions
-Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive business development strategy targeting established and emerging global payers.
-Proactively identify, evaluate, and pursue high‑potential payer partnerships that support MGBI’s strategic growth and market expansion goals.
-Translate global payer insights into actionable commercial opportunities and partnership models.
-Build and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline using market analytics, payer intelligence, and competitive assessments.
-Serve as the primary relationship owner for international commercial payer accounts, fostering long‑term strategic partnerships. Seek to build C-Suite relationships with international commercial payers, and/or create appropriate connections to the MGB executive team.
-Conduct regular engagement with payer organizations and TPAs to strengthen relationships and promote MGB’s capabilities, services, and value proposition. Oversee marketing plan and strategy with a cross-functional team, including clinical leadership, contracting, and marketing, to identify and promote the top opportunities for growth by payer.
-Maintain up‑to‑date intelligence on payer strategies, reimbursement models, and evolving market dynamics.
-Represent payer needs, opportunities, and risks in internal strategy discussions and cross‑functional forums.
-Collaborate with analytics, operations, contracting, and strategy teams to align business development priorities with organizational policy and strategic objectives.
-Responsible for Payer Account Management reporting to be distributed to the C-Suite, Presidents, VPs, and director-level leaders.
-Owner of account management meeting series, guiding long-term growth of relationships while managing internal and external stakeholders, in alignment with strategic objectives and timelines.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field of study required
- Master's Degree in Business preferred
Experience
- 5+ years of experience required in global payer markets, healthcare consulting, business development, or strategic partnerships
- 5+ years of experience and strong understanding required in international payer dynamics and patient access models
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience required connecting strategy, analytics, and market intelligence

- Ability to synthesize complex market and payer information to influence decisions and guide strategic direction.
