Internship - Global Health & Safety Information Management & Digital Workplace
“Health and safety are everyone’s responsibility. Our responsibility is to make sure that everyone can easily find, understand and use the information they need to work safely and stay healthy.”
The internship
How do you make health and safety information easy to find and use in a global organisation of more than 80,000 employees? During this graduation internship, you will help us redesign how Global Health & Safety information is structured, governed and communicated across HEINEKEN. You will combine information management, digital workplace design and internal communication to create a more intuitive and sustainable way of connecting people with the information they need.
Our Health & Safety information currently sits across different documents, platforms and communication channels. Your assignment will be to understand the current landscape and help us design a better one.
During your internship, you will:
- Analyse our current Health & Safety information landscape, including how documents, standards, guidance and other information are created, stored, governed and accessed.
- Review and redesign the information architecture and governance of our Global Health & Safety SharePoint environment.
- Develop a clear approach to document ownership, version control, review cycles, metadata, archiving and publication.
- Explore how different digital channels and platforms — including SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Power BI and Workvivo — can work together as an integrated Health & Safety information ecosystem.
- Research how different user groups look for and use Health & Safety information and translate these insights into practical design choices.
- Help improve the communication and presentation of Health & Safety information so that colleagues can quickly find, understand and act on what is relevant to them.
- Develop recommendations and practical solutions that can be implemented and maintained after completion of your internship.
You will work closely with the Global Health & Safety team in Amsterdam and with colleagues in Krakow who support the back end of our Health & Safety data and digital systems. You will also engage with Health & Safety colleagues and users across different HEINEKEN operating companies around the world.
The assignment provides substantial room for research and independent problem solving. Together with your university and HEINEKEN supervisor, we can refine the exact research question and methodology so that the project meets the requirements of your graduation programme while delivering a practical outcome for HEINEKEN.
Your new team and workplace
You will join HEINEKEN’s Global Health & Safety team. We support our businesses around the world in protecting the health and safety of our people and in continuously improving how Health & Safety is managed across the company.
Our work ranges from global standards and risk management to audit, data, digital systems and capability building. One of our current challenges is making sure that the large amount of information we develop is organised in a way that is simple, intuitive and useful for the people who need it.
You will work from our Amsterdam office while collaborating with an international team, particularly our colleagues in Krakow who manage and support several of our digital and data systems. This means your project will sit at the intersection of people, processes, technology and communication — with plenty of opportunity to see how a global organisation operates.
During your internship, you’ll have every opportunity to get to know HEINEKEN as an organization, not just within your own team, but across departments. We trust and empower you to work with an entrepreneurial mindset. At HEINEKEN, we love bringing the outside world in and welcome fresh, new ideas with open arms. Of course, we’ll make sure you get the guidance that suits you.
What a day in the internship could look like
You might start the morning by meeting colleagues from Krakow to understand how information is currently managed behind the scenes in one of our digital platforms. Afterwards, you analyse how users navigate the Global Health & Safety SharePoint environment and identify where information is duplicated, outdated or difficult to find.
Later in the morning, you could interview a Health & Safety colleague from one of our operating companies to understand what information they regularly need and how they currently find it.
After lunch, you may work on a new information architecture, test a proposed SharePoint structure or explore how a Power BI dashboard, Workvivo communication and Teams environment could connect more logically with the central Health & Safety information hub.
You will have your own graduation project and clear deliverables, while being part of the day-to-day work of an international Global Health & Safety team.
