Seize the opportunity to join a rapidly growing business and take on a position with great responsibility and the opportunity to influence the energy transition.
We are now looking for an Investment Analyst to join Fortum.
This position is a shared resource between the Renewables and Industrial Partnerships teams, offering exposure to renewable energy investments and strategic partnerships with large industrial customers. You will contribute to Fortum's growth initiatives by supporting investment analysis and business development across both areas.
The position can be based in Espoo, Finland, or Solna, Sweden.
About the role
As an Investment Analyst, you will support investment decisions for wind, solar and energy storage projects, as well as evaluate business opportunities involving data centers and other energy-intensive industries. You will be part of the Renewables Business Development team, working closely with colleagues across both business areas on financial modelling, investment analysis and new business opportunities.
Your accountabilities include:
- Build, maintain and further develop financial models for wind, solar and energy storage projects.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and prepare business case materials to support investment decisions.
- Support project teams with financial and commercial analysis throughout the development lifecycle.
- Assess project profitability under different power market, regulatory and commercial scenarios.
- Conduct market analysis covering electricity markets, renewable energy developments, industrial power demand and emerging business opportunities.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve project economics and portfolio value.
- Support commercial discussions and negotiations with customers, partners and other stakeholders from a financial and business perspective.
- Collaborate closely with both the Renewables and Industrial Partnerships teams to identify and develop new business opportunities.
About you
To succeed in this role, we believe you bring the following:
- A Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or another relevant field.
- Previous experience in investment analysis, corporate finance, management consulting, transaction advisory, project finance or business development is an advantage. However, we are also happy to consider recent graduates with strong motivation and drive.
- Strong financial modelling skills and advanced Excel capabilities. You are comfortable using AI tools in your daily work to improve efficiency and analytical outcomes.
- Experience assessing capital-intensive investments and preparing business cases.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with a structured and detail-oriented approach.
- The ability to communicate complex analytical topics clearly to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- An interest in renewable energy, electricity markets, industrial electrification and the broader energy transition.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Finnish and Swedish language skills are considered an advantage.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with complex investment questions, thrives in a dynamic business environment and is motivated by creating value through sound analysis and well-informed decision-making.
