I'm working with a global alternative-investment manager that is adding a senior Investment Professional to its Hedge Fund manager selection team in London.
About the Firm
- A long-established multi-alternatives specialist with well over USD 75bn in assets under management across private markets, hedge funds and diversifying strategies.
- Serves several hundred institutional clients in more than 40 countries, with a hedge fund investing track record of over two decades.
- The Liquid Markets team builds diversified Hedge Fund portfolios and bespoke client mandates covering the full range of sub-strategies, including defensive, discretionary and systematic.
- It is responsible for all external manager allocations in public markets. Most of these run through separately managed accounts on the firm's in-house platform, which gives strong transparency, liquidity and control.
- The hedge fund business is growing, with new portfolio solutions recently launched that combine discretionary and systematic managers.
The Role
- You'll be a core member of a global manager selection team, leading the sourcing, screening, analysis and execution of new Hedge Fund investments.
- You'll run in-depth investment due diligence, build the supporting analysis and models, and take investment proposals to the investment committee.
- You'll work with portfolio managers on multi-alternatives and Hedge Fund portfolios, and on client mandates, contributing views on investment themes and manager positioning.
- You'll represent the team in periodic investment reviews and ad-hoc requests from internal and external clients.
- You'll produce market research and thematic analysis on the Hedge Fund industry and on portfolio construction.
- You'll support business development and fundraising, joining selected client and prospect meetings.
What You'll Bring
- A university degree in Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Progress towards the CFA designation (strongly preferred).
- 4–6 years' experience in Hedge Fund manager selection, including exposure to systematic and quantitative strategies.
- Strong analytical ability and close attention to detail.
- Sound commercial judgement and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex investment ideas clearly.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
What's on Offer
- A high-impact seat on a global allocation team with real influence over manager selection and portfolio decisions.
- Exposure across the full Hedge Fund spectrum, from discretionary to systematic, inside a broader multi-alternatives platform.
- Flexible and hybrid working, a modern working environment, and a strong focus on training and career development.
- A collaborative culture with a long-term investment philosophy and a firm commitment to sustainability.
