Key Responsibilities
Investor Relations Strategy and Communications
- Partner with the Vice President, Investor Relations & Corporate Affairs, and senior Finance leaders to develop and execute Investor Relations strategy, annual plans, stakeholder engagement priorities, and communication objectives.
- Lead the quarterly earnings process, including earnings releases, presentations, talking points, executive briefings, investor presentations, annual meeting materials, and supporting analysis.
- Direct the development of clear, accurate, and compelling narratives regarding Eastman’s financial performance, chemicals manufacturing operations, strategic priorities, portfolio evolution, innovation, sustainability, capital allocation, and long-term growth opportunities.
- Coordinate messaging across Finance, Treasury, Corporate Strategy, Corporate Communications, Legal, Sustainability, Operations, Commercial, and Business leaders.
- Strategically advise and provide input to SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) in coordination with Accounting, Legal, and Finance teams.
- Establish best practices for publication review, disclosure coordination, process improvement, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence across Investor Relations.
- Ensure all investor communications adhere to SEC Regulation FD, disclosure policies, and Eastman's governance standards
Investor and Analyst Engagement
- Build and maintain productive relationships with institutional investors and sell-side equity analysts.
- Provide strategic direction for relationships with institutional investors, sell-side analysts, prospective investors, and other members of the investment community.
- Lead preparation for investor meetings, conferences, roadshows, earnings calls, site visits, and other shareholder engagement activities.
- Prepare executives for interactions with investors and analysts through briefing materials, anticipated questions, market perspectives, peer comparisons, and relevant financial and business analysis.
- Participate in discussions with investors and analysts as a knowledgeable representative of Eastman’s strategy, financial model, business performance, and long-term value-creation opportunities.
- Synthesize investor and analyst feedback and provide senior leadership with actionable insights regarding market.
Market Intelligence and Strategic Analysis
- Direct analysis of shareholder composition, institutional ownership, investor targeting opportunities, analyst estimates, valuation trends, peer performance, market expectations, and investor sentiment.
- Track and benchmark peer company performance (e.g., specialty chemicals sector), capital markets trends, and valuation dynamics.
- Monitor developments affecting Eastman and the global chemicals and specialty materials sector, including economic conditions, customer demand, feedstock and energy markets, inflation, interest rates, foreign exchange, trade policy, regulation, competitive activity, and technology shifts.
- Maintain an informed view of how macroeconomic trends and industry dynamics (e.g., circular economy, molecular recycling) affect investor sentiment toward Eastman.
- Apply broad industry and commercial awareness to assess how manufacturing performance, pricing, volume, mix, productivity, innovation, portfolio actions, and end-market conditions may affect financial results and investor perceptions.
- Provide recurring and ad hoc reporting to senior leadership and the Board regarding market developments, shareholder activity, competitive dynamics, investor feedback, and emerging risks and opportunities.
- Develop market intelligence frameworks, dashboards, analytical tools, and reporting processes that strengthen the effectiveness of the Investor Relations function.
Cross Functional Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead complex, highly visible workstreams supporting earnings preparation, investor communications, public disclosures, strategic initiatives, shareholder engagement, and market intelligence.
- Work closely with Finance, Treasury, Corporate Strategy, Business, Legal, and Communications teams to gather insights and ensure message alignment.
- Direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual financial, business, communications, and stakeholder issues by applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
- Evaluate key business challenges and direct the development of innovative solutions that strengthen Eastman’s investor narrative and market credibility.
- Build strong relationships across the enterprise, influence outcomes, drive alignment, and negotiate effectively with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
- Help ensure Investor Relations activities comply with applicable securities laws, disclosure requirements, Eastman policies, and ethical standards.
- Coach, team, and empower indirect reports, growing investor relations capabilities across the enterprise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, communications, engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
- Ten or more years of progressive experience in Investor Relations, corporate finance, equity research, investment banking, corporate strategy, capital markets, financial communications, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in chemicals manufacturing or a related industry preferred.
- Broad and comprehensive understanding of financial statements, valuation, capital markets, public company communications, and the changing business environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through others, manage multiple related workstreams, develop plans, allocate resources, and deliver results in a highly visible environment.
- Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize, explain and simplify complex financial, technical, and operational topics clearly.
- Strong executive presence and demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, investors, analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to integrity and execution excellence.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs and operates within Eastman's Investor Relations and Finance organizations. It is intended as a developmental role with a clear pathway toward assuming greater responsibility and potential leadership of the IR function.
Location
The role is preferably office-based in Kingsport, Tennessee (Eastman's global headquarters). However, home based in the Tri State New York City area will be considered. Home-based employees will be expected to frequently travel to Kingsport, on a monthly basis, to build proper relationships with internal stakeholders and senior management. This role also requires travel for investor conferences, roadshows, and other stakeholder events.
The base salary range for this position is $184,000 to $253,000.
