Salary Range: $81,000.00 To $83,000.00 Annually Job Title: IT Configuration Management Specialist II Location: Remote/Hybrid - DHS CISA, 4200 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22203 and 4601 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington VA 22203. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday. Security Requirements: Must be a US Citizen eligible to obtain / maintain a DHS Public Trust Level Clearance. AttainX is seeking an IT Configuration Management Specialist II to support DHS CISA’s Critical Infrastructure Collaboration Platform (CICP). This Configuration Management Specialist position administers the IT configuration management process and Configuration Management Database (CMDB), conducts configuration audits, and supports controlled software changes and releases. The specialist receives direction in several aspects of the work while gaining exposure to more complex configuration, integration, and sustainment activities. Qualifications and Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; a degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, or a related field is preferred. 2-4 years of related experience in IT configuration management, CMDB administration, or IT operations; additional relevant experience is welcome. Experience administering, configuring, maintaining, and improving a Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Working knowledge of configuration items, asset relationships, lifecycle records, discovery, reconciliation, and data quality controls. Experience with configuration auditing, software version control, integration builds, and release management. Familiarity with baseline management, change control, patching, and processes that allow only approved and validated changes. Ability to analyze configuration discrepancies, maintain audit evidence, and document corrective actions. Experience with IT service management tools and reporting; familiarity with ServiceNow or comparable CMDB platforms is preferred. Ability to document configuration procedures and communicate findings to technical teams and stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively, accept periodic direction, and gain experience with more complex configuration management tasks. Must be a US Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust Clearance. Experience with Federal or DHS/CISA systems, approved software baselines, and security authorization support is preferred. Job Duties: The IT Configuration Management Specialist II maintains reliable configuration information and supports compliance, release readiness, and service continuity. Responsibilities include: Administer and execute the IT configuration management process for CICP applications, infrastructure, and supporting services. Administer, design, configure, maintain, and improve the CMDB, including its structure, configuration item records, relationships, and data quality controls. Maintain accurate inventories, software versions, dependencies, baselines, and lifecycle status for configuration items. Coordinate discovery, reconciliation, and record updates with administrators, developers, asset owners, and operations teams. Conduct configuration audits covering software version control, integration builds, release management, and compliance with approved baselines. Identify discrepancies, unauthorized changes, and incomplete records; document findings and coordinate corrective actions. Verify change approvals and validation evidence before baseline updates; maintain traceability among requests, configuration items, and releases. Support patching, upgrades, emergency fixes, and deployment activities by maintaining configuration records and change histories. Document configurations against applicable Federal and DHS standards; verify software approval through the DHS Technical Reference Model process. Provide configuration records and audit evidence for security authorization, vulnerability remediation, and Plans of Action and Milestones tracking. Maintain SOPs, CMDB administration guidance, configuration documentation, and reports; recommend process and data quality improvements. Support release readiness, cutover planning, and help desk knowledge transfer; coordinate configuration issues with operations teams. Safeguard configuration data and sensitive information, including Protected Critical Infrastructure Information (PCII), under applicable access controls. General contract hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays, with core availability from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Office noise is generally moderate. Occasional work outside normal hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required for crisis response or critical IT issues.
