Being the IT EUC Automation Engineer
The IT EUC Automation Engineer will improve the efficiency, consistency and reliability of end user computing services through automation, modern endpoint-management practices and improved tooling. You will focus on Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and related endpoint-management processes, identifying and removing repetitive manual activity, improving compliance and remediation, and developing sustainable automation that reduces the operational workload on the EUC team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the DevOps Engineer and wider IT teams to apply common automation and engineering practices, while retaining specific ownership of EUC automation and endpoint-management improvement.
The IT EUC Automation Engineer objective is to release capacity from routine EUC administration so that the permanent team can focus more effectively on service improvement, lifecycle management and priority organisational work
What you’ll do
- Work within the EUC function with a specific remit for automation, optimisation and continuous improvement of endpoint-management processes.
- Work closely with the DevOps Engineer and colleagues across Infrastructure, Development, Applications, Cyber Security and Service Delivery
- Develop, implement and maintain automation covering areas such as endpoint configuration, compliance, remediation, provisioning, application deployment and device lifecycle management
- Operate with a protected improvement remit, ensuring the role is not simply absorbed into day-to-day EUC support activity
- Identify repetitive, manual, error-prone or inefficient EUC processes and assess opportunities to automate, simplify or standardise them
- Design, develop, test, implement and maintain automation using Intune, MECM and appropriate scripting or automation technologies, particularly PowerShell
- Ensure automation is reliable, supportable, appropriately documented and capable of being maintained by the permanent EUC team
- Ensure automated processes include appropriate handling of exceptions and that failures can be identified, investigated and recovered from without creating additional operational risk
What you’ll bring
- Enterprise endpoint management within a medium or large organisation.
- Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM), or equivalent enterprise endpoint-management technologies.
- Endpoint configuration, compliance, software deployment, patching, provisioning and device lifecycle management.
- PowerShell and/or other appropriate scripting and automation technologies.
- Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Autopilot, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and APIs and automation interfaces - Desirable
- Endpoint security, configuration baselines and compliance requirements
- Worked within an enterprise endpoint environment
- Administered and improved Intune and MECM/SCCM or equivalent platforms
- Developed PowerShell or similar automation
- Supported migration from MECM/SCCM towards Intune or other modern cloud-managed endpoint approaches - Desirable
Benefits
- Automatic membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
- Enhanced Annual Leave entitlement
- Annual Salary increase - Increase of 1 scale point per year within Grade to the top of the Grade.
- Blue Light Card discount scheme supported by a number of high street retailers

- Free parking
- Above all you’ll become part of a service that is committed to the safety of our community
