Overview

IT Field Engineer | Brighton | Full-Time

Change Grow Live are a charity dedicated to the belief that we can make a difference to our Service Users lives.

Our core values are ‘Be open, be compassionate and be bold’ and our teams apply these daily offering support and respect in a safe environment, treating each user as an individual and working with them to find the right treatment and care options.

Our Digital and IT team supports more than 6,500 colleagues and volunteers across over 180 locations nationally.

We are recruiting for an IT Field Engineer to join our team.

The IT Field Engineer will provide vital on-site IT support to Change Grow Live services across an allocated regional area, with travel outside this area where required. The post holder will resolve technical incidents and service requests relating to devices, networks, connectivity, telephony, printers, and site infrastructure, ensuring colleagues can work effectively and securely. By maintaining reliable technology and minimising disruption, the role plays an important part in enabling our teams to focus on supporting people to make positive changes in their lives.

We're looking for someone with strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving. You'll have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment where you can make a real impact while continuing to develop your skills and experience.

As an IT Field Engineer, you’ll provide hands-on technical support across Change Grow Live services within an allocated region, helping ensure colleagues have reliable access to the technology, connectivity and equipment they need to deliver their work effectively.

This is a varied field-based role combining technical troubleshooting, site support and infrastructure work. You’ll take ownership of incidents and requests that need an engineer on site, diagnosing and resolving issues across laptops and desktops, Microsoft 365, networks and Wi-Fi, telephony, printers and other site-based technology. You’ll also play an important role in site moves, new implementations, equipment installations and removals, site surveys and wider service lifecycle activity.

Working with the IT Field Operations Manager and alongside the Service Desk, IT Assets & Purchasing, Service Lifecycle Managers and other technical teams, you’ll manage your own workload and travel across your region while ensuring work is properly documented, communicated and progressed through to resolution.

It’s a role for someone who enjoys getting out to sites, solving problems and taking ownership. You’ll need to be equally comfortable troubleshooting a user's device, investigating a connectivity problem, installing network equipment or supporting the technology requirements of a site move.

Location: Leeds office base with flexible hybrid working and regular travel to services as required.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Responsibilities

We’re looking for an IT Field Engineer to provide responsive, high-quality technical support across Change Grow Live services.

This isn’t a role where every day looks the same. One day you could be diagnosing a network or Wi-Fi problem, the next installing equipment at a site, replacing a colleague’s device or providing technical support as part of a site move.

You’ll take ownership of field-based incidents and service requests across your region, using your technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to get colleagues back up and running as quickly as possible.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work across Change Grow Live locations to:

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, Wi-Fi, telephony and printing issues.
  • Install, configure, replace and relocate laptops, desktops and other end-user equipment.
  • Support Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID / Active Directory environments.
  • Install, test and troubleshoot network-connected equipment including switches, routers, wireless access points, VoIP handsets and printers.
  • Carry out technical site surveys and provide information to help plan equipment and infrastructure requirements.
  • Support new site implementations, relocations, demobilisations and other technology changes.
  • Keep ITSM tickets, technical notes and asset records accurate and up to date.
  • Work closely with the Service Desk and other Digital and IT teams to resolve more complex issues.
  • Provide practical guidance and support to colleagues when required.
  • Manage your own regional workload, travel and priorities, escalating risks or blockers when appropriate.

You’ll have experience providing hands-on IT support and be comfortable working independently across different locations. You should be confident supporting Windows endpoints and Microsoft cloud services, with a good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi.

Experience working with switches, routers, wireless access points, VoIP or similar site infrastructure will be particularly useful. Experience with Cisco, Meraki equipment, ITIL, Microsoft qualifications, or supporting site moves and infrastructure changes would also be an advantage.

You’ll also need to be organised and comfortable managing competing priorities. Just as importantly, you should be able to explain technical issues clearly to people who may not have a technical background and provide a professional, reassuring service when technology isn’t working as expected.

You’ll need a full clean UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle, with mileage paid in line with organisational policy. There may also occasionally be a need for overnight stays, travel outside your usual region or agreed out-of-hours work to support operational requirements. The post is subject to a basic DBS check.

What We Offer
