Is this job info correct?

Location: Brisbane (WFH 2 days a week) About the role: We’re seeking a capable and technically hands-on Infrastructure Architect with a strong systems engineering background to help design, build and evolve the compute, virtualisation and cloud platforms that underpin our enterprise. You’ll work across VMware Cloud Foundation, Azure IaaS, Windows and Linux server estates and the management tooling that keeps them healthy — with automation and infrastructure as code at the centre of how we deliver. This is a key role within our infrastructure function, working alongside our Principal Infrastructure Architects and partnering with Cyber, Networks, Applications and managed service teams to deliver secure, standardised and highly available platforms that scale with the business. In this role, you will: Design, build and maintain private cloud infrastructure on VMware Cloud Foundation (vSphere, NSX, Operations) including capacity, lifecycle and upgrade planning. Architect and deliver Azure IaaS workloads and landing zone components, including compute, storage, networking, backup, identity integration and hybrid connectivity. Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Bicep/ARM, Ansible, Terraform and PowerShell DSC to make platform builds repeatable, versioned and auditable. Build and support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure changes in Azure DevOps or GitHub, including code review, testing and release governance. Engineer and maintain the Windows Server and Linux (SUSE/RHEL/Ubuntu) estates including build standards, golden images, hardening baselines, patching and configuration management. Own and improve management systems including SCCM/Intune, Azure Arc, monitoring and observability tooling, backup and recovery platforms, and endpoint/server compliance reporting. Produce and maintain reference architectures, high and low level designs, build guides and operational runbooks. Create and maintain platform roadmaps covering lifecycle, patch currency, licensing and technical debt reduction. Lead the development and testing of Disaster Recovery plans for virtualisation, cloud and server platforms. Automate manual operational tasks and drive continuous improvement in platform reliability, performance and cost efficiency. Partner with Cyber Security to remediate vulnerabilities, apply hardening standards and ensure compliance with internal policy and external regulatory requirements. Provide escalation support for complex infrastructure incidents and problems, and contribute to post-incident reviews and permanent fixes. Guide and mentor engineers, contractors and managed service partners on standards, designs and automation practices. About you: Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (highly desirable). One or more relevant certifications, such as VMware VCP/VCAP, Microsoft Azure Administrator or Azure Solutions Architect Expert (highly regarded). 7+ years’ systems engineering or infrastructure experience in large enterprise environments, with time spent in a design or architecture capacity. Deep hands-on expertise with VMware virtualisation and ideally VMware Cloud Foundation. Strong practical experience delivering and operating Azure IaaS, including landing zones, networking, storage, backup and hybrid identity. Demonstrated infrastructure as code capability with Bicep/ARM, Terraform or Ansible, and version control workflows in Git. Strong scripting and automation skills in PowerShell and/or Python, with a bias towards eliminating manual work. Solid administration experience across both Windows Server and Linux, including hardening, patching and troubleshooting at depth. Working knowledge of enterprise management and observability tooling — SCCM/Intune, Azure Arc, monitoring, backup and recovery platforms. Sound understanding of networking, storage, identity and security fundamentals as they apply to compute platforms. Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a strong ability to work across teams and manage stakeholder expectations. Experience in rail, mining, utilities or another safety-critical operational environment (preferred). What we offer you: At Aurizon, we support the development and growth of our employees. With a national portfolio of operations, we offer long-term and exciting career opportunities. Some of our benefits include: Development and growth opportunities. Access to mentoring and development programs. Discounts on selected health insurance funds, personal travel, gyms, vehicles and retail brands. Parental leave program and super booster.
