Location: Brisbane (WFH 2 days a week) About the role: We’re seeking a highly experienced Principal Infrastructure Architect to take platform ownership of our Unified Communications, CCTV and Electronic Access Control environments. You’ll set the technical direction for these platforms across the enterprise — architecting, modernising and safeguarding the voice, collaboration, video surveillance and physical access systems that keep our people connected, our sites secure and our operations running. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role that blends platform ownership, technical leadership and infrastructure architecture. You’ll act as the design authority for your platforms, lead a mixed team of engineers, contractors and managed service partners, and work closely with Cyber, Networks, Cloud, Property and Operational Technology teams to deliver resilient, compliant and cost-effective solutions. In this role, you will: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of the Unified Communications, CCTV and Electronic Access Control platforms — strategy, architecture, standards, roadmap, lifecycle and total cost of ownership. Act as the design authority and technical lead for all changes to these platforms, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, supportable and aligned to enterprise architecture principles. Design and deliver enterprise voice and collaboration solutions including Microsoft Teams Voice, SBCs, contact centre, telephony carriage, mobility and audio-visual meeting room technologies. Architect and govern IP CCTV and video management platforms across corporate sites, depots, terminals and remote/rail-side locations, including camera standards, storage retention, network bandwidth and edge design. Architect and govern electronic access control, intercom and alarm systems, ensuring integration with identity, HR onboarding/offboarding and physical security processes. Create and maintain platform roadmaps, reference architectures, design patterns and technical standards that support business evolution and reduce technical debt. Lead vendor, partner and managed service performance — setting technical expectations, reviewing designs, assuring delivery quality and holding partners to SLAs. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers, contractors and service providers, uplifting capability across the team. Partner with Cyber Security to harden platforms, remediate vulnerabilities, manage device certificates and ensure segregation between IT, OT and physical security networks. Lead the development and testing of Disaster Recovery and business continuity plans for voice, video surveillance and access control services. Maintain comprehensive documentation including architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, integration designs and operating procedures. Ensure compliance with internal policies, privacy obligations, surveillance legislation and external regulatory requirements. Provide technical input to capital and operational planning, business cases, procurement and major project delivery. Support incident, problem and major change activities, including participation in an on-call roster as part of a rotating team. About you: Tertiary qualification in IT, Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field (mandatory). 10+ years’ experience in infrastructure engineering or architecture roles within large, geographically dispersed enterprise environments, including significant time in a lead or principal capacity. Demonstrated platform ownership of enterprise Unified Communications and collaboration technologies — Microsoft Teams Voice/Phone System, Cisco UCM Session Border Controllers, SIP trunking, contact centre and meeting room AV. Deep experience designing and operating enterprise IP CCTV / video management systems (e.g. Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon or similar) at scale, including storage, retention and bandwidth design. Strong experience with electronic access control, intercom and alarm platforms, and their integration with identity and HR systems. Solid understanding of underlying network and infrastructure services — QoS, multicast, VLAN and segmentation design, PoE, Azure/hybrid connectivity, Windows Server, virtualisation and storage. Working knowledge of security-by-design principles, device hardening, certificate management and IT/OT convergence in an industrial environment. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Voice Engineer Expert, Azure Solutions Architect, TOGAF, CCNP, or vendor certifications in your VMS/access control platforms (highly regarded). Proven ability to lead technical teams, contractors and managed service partners without direct authority, and to influence senior stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Experience in rail, mining, utilities, logistics or another safety-critical operational environment (preferred). What we offer you: At Aurizon, we support the development and growth of our employees.
