IT Network Engineer

This role supports the configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the company’s network infrastructure. Working under the guidance of experienced network engineers, the position assists with daily network operations, incident response, documentation, and planned infrastructure changes while developing broader technical capability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with implementing, maintaining, and supporting LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN, and wireless network services using established designs and standards.
- Configure and troubleshoot network hardware, software, and connectivity, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and network cabling, with guidance as needed.
- Follow established network security standards and procedures, including access control, configuration management, vulnerability remediation, and secure change practices.
- Monitor network performance and availability, respond to alerts, collect diagnostic information, and escalate complex or high-impact issues appropriately.
- Collaborate with network engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity staff, service desk staff, vendors, and business partners to resolve issues and support infrastructure changes.
- Perform assigned network changes, maintenance activities, and service requests in accordance with change management, documentation, and approval requirements.
- Create and maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, inventory records, knowledge articles, and operating procedures.
- Assist with backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity testing for network services.
- Coordinate with third-party providers on service requests, troubleshooting, circuit installations, and support cases; escalate vendor issues as needed.
- Participate in rotating 24x7 on-call support after completing required training and demonstrating readiness.
- Contribute to a positive team dynamic through respectful interactions, reliable follow-through, knowledge sharing, and active collaboration to achieve department and organizational goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, networking, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and experience.
- 1–3 years of experience supporting network infrastructure, enterprise IT operations, or a closely related technical environment.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, switching, routing, wireless networking, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and common network troubleshooting methods.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Entry-level or associate networking certification, such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent practical experience, preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with technical staff, non-technical employees, managers, and vendors.
- Foundational hands-on skills supporting network infrastructure, connectivity, and common network devices in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to document work accurately, follow established procedures, provide useful status updates, and ask for assistance or escalate when appropriate.
- Working knowledge of core networking concepts, including IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, switching, routing, wireless, VPN and remote connectivity, network security, and network monitoring.
- Ability to troubleshoot methodically by gathering evidence, isolating probable causes, testing safely, and documenting findings and resolution steps.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, cloud services, server networking, mobile connectivity, and virtualization concepts.
- Ability to organize assigned work and operate effectively when priorities change or multiple support needs arise.
- Ability to analyze technical information, recognize patterns, identify likely causes, and escalate complex issues with clear supporting details.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a technical team while completing assigned tasks with increasing independence.

SALARY:
- Hiring Range: $98,634 - $113,424
- Discretionary bonus based on company performance

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Hybrid work from home, remote locations and office as required
- The physical environment is typical of a standard office space. It requires the employee to work inside for the duration of work. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, sitting for more than 50% of the time. This position will require occasionally moving about inside the office to access equipment, cabinets, etc. May work around office equipment which could be noisy, such as copiers and fax machines.
