IT - Project Management Office (PMO) Manager

About This Role:

Hunter Industries is establishing a new PMO leadership role: the IT PMO Manager owns project governance and the project management process for the Information Technology department, ensuring that project leaders execute projects consistently and in accordance with established standards.

This role holds functional leads from Information Technology, external consulting partners, and business partners across Hunter accountable to the PMO's governance standards, ensuring targets for performance, quality, schedule, and cost are met across the project portfolio.

Essential Functions:

• Establishes, maintains, and continuously improves the organization's project management methodology, governance framework, and standard tools/templates to ensure consistent execution across all IT projects.
• Owns project governance for IT, defining stage-gate reviews, approval criteria, and reporting standards, and holds project leaders accountable to the established process.
• Partners with business and IT leadership to ensure the project portfolio remains aligned with organizational strategy and priorities, providing input on prioritization and sequencing decisions based on business value and impact.
• Leads and mentors a team, providing day-to-day direction and guidance, and helping build their project management skills; is responsible for hiring, training, performance management, and other people leadership activities.
• Facilitates regular portfolio and governance reviews with leadership, functional leads, and key stakeholders to evaluate project health, prioritize initiatives, and resolve cross-project conflicts.
• Maintains visibility into resource commitments and utilization across the active project portfolio, surfacing potential conflicts or over-allocation across projects to functional managers and leadership to inform prioritization and staffing decisions.
• Develops and delivers training and mentoring on project management methodology and tools to build consistent capability across the organization.
• Prepares and presents executive-level reporting on project and portfolio performance, including budget, schedule, and risk status, to senior leadership and the IT Steering Committee.
• Evaluates and recommends project management tools and technologies to improve visibility, efficiency, and governance across the PMO.
• Champions adherence to established change management standards and procedures to ensure disciplined, controlled, and well-communicated changes to applications and systems.

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.

Experience Required and Preferred:

• 5+ years leading IT projects, including experience navigating cross-functional stakeholders, schedules, and budgets, with 2-3 years of supervisory experience.

What You Bring:

• Deep understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches) and governance/PMO best practices, including portfolio management and stage-gate reviews.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor a team, providing clear day-to-day direction while supporting their growth.
• Portfolio-level financial tracking and reporting on cost, resource utilization, and value realization across the portfolio.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and hold others accountable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear, executive-level reporting and presentations.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred, given oversight of cross-border delivery staff and coordination with cross-border teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risk early and drive resolution across multiple projects at once.
• Proficiency in the use of computers required, with a strong knowledge of spreadsheets and PPM (project portfolio management) tools.
• PMP or PgMP certification expected.
• Ability to translate technical/project detail into business terms for senior leadership.

The salary for this opportunity ranges from $117,000 - $145,000

The Company complies with all federal/local/state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
