Job Description
As an IT Security Specialist level 2 – Vulnerability Management & IT Operations, you will combine hands-on IT support with a strong focus on operational security. Approximately 60% of your role will focus on security and vulnerability management, while the remaining 40% will involve second-line support, service requests and incident resolution.
You will play an active role in identifying and addressing security risks, following up on Microsoft Defender alerts, working with Qualys, coordinating patching and vulnerability remediation, and ensuring vulnerabilities are resolved and tracked in a timely and controlled manner.
At the same time, you will provide second-line support for more complex IT issues and contribute to the reliability of the company's IT environment, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, servers, Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint and other business applications.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, investigating security issues and continuously improving the IT environment.
Work environment
The position is based in Amstelveen and offers a combination of on-site and remote working, depending on operational requirements.
For day-to-day activities, you will work closely with the IT Service Manager and the wider IT Operations team. For security-related responsibilities, you will collaborate directly with Level 3 specialists, the Enterprise Information Security team and, where required, external security specialists.
Requirements
Security & Vulnerability Management – approximately (60%)
- Monitor, review and follow up on security alerts from Microsoft Defender.
- Work with Qualys to identify, analyze and prioritize vulnerabilities.
- Coordinate and monitor patching and vulnerability remediation activities with internal teams and external specialists.
- Investigate vulnerability findings and determine the appropriate follow-up actions.
- Track outstanding vulnerabilities and ensure remediation activities are completed in a timely and controlled manner.
- Maintain vulnerability management reporting and operational security metrics.
- Support improvements in asset coverage, vulnerability scanning, patching processes and security tooling.
- Work closely with Level 3 specialists, the Enterprise Information Security team and external security specialists.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and automation of security-related processes.
IT Operations & Support – approximately (40%)
- Provide second-line escalation support for incidents, requests and technical issues that require additional expertise.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents across the IT environment.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to Service Desk Agents.
- Coach less experienced Service Desk colleagues where appropriate.
- Support applications and solutions including TEOS, GoAnywhere, Meeting Room equipment and Uniflow printing.
- Support and troubleshoot infrastructure and cloud environments, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, servers, Microsoft 365, Azure and SharePoint.
- Recognize recurring incidents and problems and document effective solutions.
- Apply ITIL principles to Incident, Problem and Change Management.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve, standardize or automate operational processes.
What we are looking for
- MBO/HBO-level education or equivalent working experience in IT, system administration, infrastructure or security.
- Relevant experience in a second-line IT support, IT operations, system administration or security-focused role.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability management and remediation.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender and/or similar security monitoring solutions.
- Experience with Qualys or comparable vulnerability management tooling.
- Understanding of patch management, vulnerabilities and security remediation processes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft environments, including Microsoft 365 and Azure.
- Knowledge of infrastructure such as LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and servers.
- Understanding of ITIL, particularly Incident, Problem and Change Management.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- A proactive mindset and a genuine interest in security, investigating issues and solving technical problems.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Able to work carefully and with integrity when handling sensitive corporate and personal information.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken. Dutch is a plus.
