Role Description The Japan Payroll/Social Insurance Specialist is a full-time remote role responsible for managing end-to-end Japan payroll and social insurance processes for assigned clients. Day-to-day tasks include calculating and processing payroll, handling payroll taxes and garnishments, and ensuring compliance with Japanese labor, tax, and social insurance regulations. The specialist will coordinate with clients to collect and validate payroll data, prepare statutory reports, and manage social insurance enrollments, changes, and terminations. The role also involves responding to payroll-related inquiries, supporting audits, maintaining accurate documentation, and continuously improving processes to enhance service quality and efficiency.
Qualifications

• Strong skills in payroll administration and payroll processing for Japan, ensuring accurate and timely calculations and payments.
• Experience with payroll taxes and garnishments, including application of relevant Japanese tax and social insurance rules.
• Background in payroll services, preferably in an outsourcing or shared services environment supporting multiple clients.
• Solid understanding of Japanese labor laws, social insurance schemes, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel; ability to manage large data sets with attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in Japanese; business-level English is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
• Relevant education in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field; professional payroll or HR certification is a plus.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams and maintaining client-focused service standards.
