The Opportunity

We are supporting a US-based corporate buyer in its acquisition of a consumer product manufacturing company in Japan. The transaction is at an advanced stage, and we are looking for an experienced Japanese-speaking professional to support the ongoing due diligence process.The role will focus particularly on supply chain and procurement due diligence, including supplier and spend analysis, operational risk assessment, and the identification and sizing of potential synergies. The successful candidate will also help coordinate diligence activities between the target company in Tokyo and the client's global team.The engagement will start as soon as possible and is expected to run at close to full-time capacity until the end of December, with potential follow-on support during post-merger integration.The role is fully remote.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support supply chain and procurement due diligence as part of the acquisition process.
• Analyse the target's supplier base, sourcing model, procurement spend, and operational risks.
• Identify and quantify potential procurement, supply chain, and operational synergies.
• Coordinate diligence activities and information requests across Japanese and international stakeholders.
• Review and synthesise Japanese- and English-language information and materials.
• Prepare clear findings and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Potentially support post-merger integration following completion.
• RequirementsProfessional fluency in Japanese and English.
• Experience in supply chain, procurement, or operational due diligence.
• Strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to identify and quantify potential synergies.
• Experience in M&A, transaction advisory, consulting, or a comparable transaction environment.
• Strong project management and stakeholder coordination capabilities.
• Availability to start at short notice and work at close to full-time capacity.

Nice to Have

• Experience within consumer products, manufacturing, or other product-based businesses.
• Direct experience with procurement or supply chain synergies in M&A.
• Experience with cross-border transactions involving Japanese companies.
• Post-merger integration experience.
