Java Software Engineer

Role Description This is a Java Software Engineer role based in Nairobi County, Kenya, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. The Java Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Java and related frameworks, with a focus on reliability and performance. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing microservices, writing clean and testable code, reviewing peer code, and troubleshooting issues across the software stack. The engineer will collaborate with product, QA, and operations teams to refine requirements, improve system architecture, and support deployment and integration activities. The role also involves contributing to technical documentation, advocating for best practices in software development, and continuously improving software quality and development processes.

Qualifications

• Strong Software Development skills with experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable applications.
• Proficiency in Java and core Programming concepts, including object-oriented design and data structures.
• Hands-on experience with Microservices architectures, including building, integrating, and maintaining distributed services.
• Hands on experience with SQL Server, Linux Server
• Practical knowledge of the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring MVC) for backend development.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, relational databases, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools is beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, and manage time independently.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
