Java Tech Lead (Remote)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join a remote technology opportunity in Portugal supporting strategic initiatives within the energy and utilities sector. You will provide technical leadership across Java-based applications, combining hands-on expertise with complex solution design, technical quality and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Lead technical decisions and contribute hands-on to Java-based application development and evolution.

- Design solutions for complex technical requirements while supporting robust and maintainable application architectures.

- Manage and prioritize technical debt to improve application quality and long-term maintainability.

- Maintain clear and accurate technical application documentation.

- Analyze infrastructure change requirements and coordinate the necessary technical inputs.

- Contribute to strategic initiatives in collaboration with multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams.

- Promote delivery quality, effective problem resolution and collaborative technical practices.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Extensive professional experience with Java technologies, supported by the autonomy and technical leadership expected from a Tech Lead.

- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a comparable field.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on delivery quality.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams.

- Experience designing complex technical solutions and contributing directly to their implementation.

- Professional working proficiency in English.

- Understanding of the energy and utilities sector and GDPR requirements.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

- Java and associated application technologies and frameworks.

- Complex solution design and application architecture practices.

- Technical debt management and technical documentation.

- Infrastructure change analysis.

- Agile methodologies.

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience with Jira and Confluence.

- Professional working proficiency in Portuguese and/or Spanish.
