Position Overview: The Journeyman ISSE provides hands-on engineering, configuration testing, log onboarding assistance, and day-to-day Tier 2 support under the guidance of the Senior ISSE and Lead SIEM Architect. This role focuses on verifying agent deployments, log collection rules, transport daemons, and assisting GFL administrators in meeting onboarding requirements for the 150 target servers. Core Duties & PWS Performance Requirements: Reference Implementation Deployment (PWS Task 3.3): Test and validate templates, scripts, GPOs, and agent profiles across ~20 OS flavors in the Agency environment. Tier 2 Technical Support (PWS Task 3.4): Provide responsive Tier 2 support (aiming for 90% resolution within 24 hours per AQL) to GFL system administrators; troubleshoot log collection, daemon errors, and network transport issues. Telemetry & Pipeline Verification (PWS Task 3.4): Validate log parsing and telemetry feeds for representative servers; record troubleshooting entries in the Tier 2 Support Log. SOP & Knowledge Transfer Support (PWS Task 3.5 & 3.6): Contribute to operational SOP drafting and assist in conducting delta training sessions for GFL Tier 1 personnel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Technical Competencies & Qualifications Experience: 35 years of practical experience in Linux/Windows administration, security log collection, or IT cybersecurity support. Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Linux/Windows command line, log forwarding tools (syslog, WEF), network connectivity diagnostics, and basic SIEM query syntax. Security Clearance: Secret DoD Cyber Workforce / Credential Requirements: DoD 8570 / 8140 Baseline Certification: IAT Level II compliant (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CySA+, CND, or SSCP). DCWF Alignment: 461 Systems Security Analyst / 451 System Administrator. Computing Environment / OS Credentials: CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or equivalent OS vendor certifications. DoD Compliance: Familiarity with DISA STIGs, DoD cybersecurity operational policies, and ticket management systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.28 - $55.28/hr.
