Our client, a structural steel fabricator and erector serving the Southern California mixed-use and multifamily market, is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations. This role keeps our financial records accurate and supports the finance team across accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and the monthly close, while building familiarity with construction and job-cost accounting. Key Responsibilities General Accounting Record and maintain journal entries, ledgers, and financial transactions Process accounts payable, including subcontractor and steel/material supplier invoices Process accounts receivable and assist with progress billings and retention tracking Perform bank and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Support month-end and year-end closing procedures Maintain organized financial documentation and job files Project & Cost Support Assist senior accounting staff with job cost data entry and coding to the correct jobs Help compile labor and material cost data pulled from Tekla PowerFab Support change order and lien waiver documentation Assist with basic variance reporting under supervision Compliance & Administrative Support internal and external audits with required documentation Help maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies Assist with OCIP/Non-OCIP insurance billing paperwork on larger jobs Provide general administrative support to the finance team Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or actively pursuing) Progress toward CPA, CMA, or Chartered Accountant is strongly preferred Experience 0–2 years of accounting experience; internships considered Exposure to construction or manufacturing accounting is a plus Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, VLOOKUP, basic pivot tables) Familiarity with accounting software (Netsuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organizational and time-management skills Effective written and verbal communication Key Competencies Integrity and confidentiality Eagerness to learn the construction/steel fabrication business Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable and organized
